Ok, now I was wondering what would happen if I went and ran 91 Octane Non-Oxygenated Gas in my stock car and here is the low down:

Seat of pants - felt a little firmer, sounded a little smoother during my run.

1st - I have a G-tech Pro Competition - now for the nay sayers, don't knock it until you try it. I have had three different people test it after having been to the track and it has proven to be amazingly close. In fact, we haven't seen any real difference that could not be attributed to weather, traction, etc. I'm not saying it is the same as the track or a lab tool (as it is known to throw an occassional no-way reading at you), but it is close enough for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and at the very least an excellent way to monitor changes without having to pay 50.00 a whack or drive 200 miles to a track.

2nd - I have ran 93 Octane gas from Holiday and 92 Octane from Shell and have seen consistent 15.4's. I have at least 7 of these on record. The latest was a 15.4 on a 60 degree morning on a relatively dry day.

Ok now for the good stuff - the other morning, again on a 50 degree day I started up and drove to my launch spot, brake torqued too much and ran a 15.1 with some wheel spin. I drove through the cool air to let her cool down a bit and went for another, this time 14.989 (no spin, just peddle pop), tooled around a little to let her cool off and ran again, this time a 15.040!

The only thing I changed was GAS (Shell 91 Octane Non-Oxygenated) and maybe had a little better air but geez!!!!!!

Sound crazy you say, well look at these Dyno sheets. The first I took from a previous post by Logan on his stock car. The second is mine from this Sunday. I have lower peak numbers which baffled me after these runs, but then i looked at the curves! Am I crazy or what?

Bone stock, pulled 239 rear wheel hp, and 248 ft/lbs torque.

I would love to know if anyone else has seen results like this or can repeat these results in another part of the country. I also wonder if repeatable, when the benefit of this gas drops off due to a lack of octane rating and mods.

The next step is to run this gas out of my car and go back to the same place with Shell 92 as before and see what happens..

Wait a minute, look at your dyno pull, it's is relatively flat compared to Logan's..This is good, yes? More Hp and TQ in the lower RPMs?

Well I know logan said that it was a very hot day on his dyno run, so I would love to see other dyno sheets from stock cars with cooler temps involved, but you're right, look at the 4k readings of each, his at about 150 HP and 200 TQ and I am at 180 HP and 250 TQ, I'd say that accounts for a fair amount of acceleration.

Logan, do you have any 1/4 stats from when your car was stock? I have seen tons on here in the past that went anywhere from 15.1 to 15.6 so I always felt that my 15.4 was right in line.

Now after some reflection, the day I ran these great numbers it was near perfect weather (not just a little better air); 48 - 50 degrees, very dry and high pressure. Today I ran with lower pressure, a little humid, a very slight headwind, 3/4 tank of gas, it was about 56 degrees outside. I ran three times 15.155, 15.169, 15.188. So my numbers did slow down a little but a varied enough set of circumstances that would seem to account for such.

I don't want to jump off the deep end and start preaching go out and buy this gas because I can not find enough information on it to say whether or not it is good or bad for our cars. I would however love for some else out there to see if they can reproduce these same results so I know whether or not it is a fluke.

From everything I have read I can say that the non-oxygenated is supposed to have more energy but I didn't think it would translate into this much of a difference.

Here in New England, we have no choice...the only thing they're allowed to sell is the oxygenated or "reformulated" fuel. It sucks. It reduces gas mileage and performance... :(
