View Full Version : The resale value of marauders finally going up!?

offroadkarter

It seems to me that only a few months ago, you would see plenty of marauders with 100k < miles listing for around 8 grand... Now it seems that the lowest average price for said cars are around 10-11 grand...

Mid mileaged (>40k<) cars are around 15-17 grand

Low mileage >20k are listing for 20 grand and up

Is resale value FINALLY going back up on our cars?

Guess your smarter than I. Wish I kept my 1970 special edition Cuda.

At the last car show I My same car go at an action for 251.00 thousand buckaroonies.

OK, but I'm not comparing it to the MM, But I do think they will hold there value if kept up.:coolman:

no clue what a b body is. our cars are 5 years old, they wont increase for many years nor will the price turnaround in months more like years. what a persons askin price is and what it sells for are completly different

Since this is a discussion, isn't it reasonable to consider the selling price, as opposed to the asking price, in this economy, the seller "needs" more money, and the buyer "needs" to spend less.

offroadkarter
05-16-2009, 07:25 PM
NADA says my car is worth 16 grand, which is the average of what they are selling for in my cars condition/mileage

They have to be selling, theirs no marauders for sale on cars.com within 30 miles of me lol

You listed auto trader, and cars.com as your reference, hence the asking price, not the selling price.

One of the car's listed on car.com is badgeless and has some pillar gauges installed.
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-|E-|M-_32_|D-_3758_|N-N|R-10000|I-1%2c7|P-PRICE+descending|Q-descending|Z-08850&aff=national&paId=307258082&recnum=4&leadExists=true

And Ryan, It's about time these things start holding their value. Theres an 04 with 13k on there like mine, and they want $21k, only $2k less than what I paid 3 years ago for it.

I have been sitting back and noticing the prices go up myself. I don't understand why we were the same price as the SS's for a while, they made so many more of those and I still see atleast one everyday.

The only thing I can see as to why the 90s impalas would naturally hold the value more is because chevy discontinued that platform and all RWD cars at the end of 96. Whereas we've still had TCs, CVs, GMs..

I do believe that we are starting to see depreciation leveling off a little. Time will tell if prices start to climb.

I believe nice, clean, original (unmodified) examples wont drop much below 13-15k. That said, these cars are not a wise financial investment. Just enjoy it.

It could also be that the B body SS had a bigger following than our cars do, which is why they are still worth something compared to a caprice...

Look at the fox body mustang, 10 years ago they weren't worth a damn, now i see them on ebay from 5 to 15 grand

Here in Chicago at least 1 Marauder a week goes through the auction at Greater Chicago, looks like 40,000 miles brings $8-9,000 between dealers. When I see people asking $18,000 for one now I hope they can get it!
Now I have an 1987 GN at home, bought new, every option including t tops, 50,000 miles, just now starting to climb in value. Been offer more than I paid for it new, the Gn's to this day has a strong following.

One question!

Why are we talking about selling our beloved marauders!?!!?

bob6364
05-18-2009, 06:28 AM
It could have been a major drop in price due to $4/gal gas and car owners dumping big luxury cars ...flooding the market...dealers reacting to the sudden influx of inventory and now we have had $2/gal for awhile the prices are coming back to where they should have been all along...but hey we never see that do we...stock market.

Took mine out last night to Hanks in Plainfield. Met another owner and some great folks.
This car is a real head turner.

I'd be happy with my cars loan and value staying slightly equal! LOL

If the market turns around I can see my car staying in the $13K range for a while.

Mine is a 2003 with 72K. Replaced axles, everything functions perfect except the pedals. Paint is a 7/10 interior is a 9/10.

I'd be lucky to sell it for $13K today. Hopefully I will stay around $13K for a while and when/if the market get fixed stay in the $13K range another year or so. That way there will be some equity.

I feel for you, I just payed mine off kinda, but not really. I still owed $8000.00 but used a line of credit to pay off. I was just trying to reduce my monthly bills and since I was allready paying interest on the line of credit but not using it I decided to finally cut the last check. Mine is 9/10 ext. and 9 1/2/10 int. Everything works perfect and a crap load off money invested. I will never be upside down but it would be nice to get a decent amount for it instead of giving it away like i've seen so many do in the last year.

I hear you! There are some things I want to do to the Marauder just to make it nicer for me. Paint being one of them... just not sure if I want spend that kinda of money into a car I might get out of in a while. :/

I saw one of these less than an hour ago in Salinas CA. Red, and in immaculate condition. I love my MM but have to say these were great cars. I'm pretty sure it was a '96.

Hey guess what, 2009 Grand M's, under 20,000 miles are going throught auction at $12,000-$13,000 range. There has been a ton of them over last 2-6 months. So be happy where the Marauder prices are.
