Hmmm one with 40,000 miles just sold for $9,000 here in chicago auction, but he wants $29,000 for 1,900 miles! Good luck!

Better keep it a few more years if you want $29k. Maybe by 2029 you'll get that price, but by then that will be the equivalent of $9k today.

I hope for the sake of mine you get close to that! Good luck with the sale.

BTW, post many detailed pics. and tell us the history/options.

I bought my 2004 brand new off the showroom floor for $24,400 + tax and title. The sticker was 34,xxx. That was of course, with 5 miles, and a 3yr/36k mile warranty - not to mention the idea that nobody really ever drove or owned it before...

As of right now, your car might be worth approx $12,500 for private sale...maybe $13K if you sweet talk the buyer.

it is what it is.

Wrong....black book wholesale is 13k. He could probably get 15-17k.

Hate to say this, but no dealers are using printed "book" wholesale values since they are 30 to 60 days behind.
99% of the dealers are using Manahaiem auction values for wholesale prices.
(At least in my area)
Best of luck with the sale, sorry to see you have to sell it.

Think it's high but if he gets it that just increrases everyone elses car value.
If he is really trying to sell it, it would likely get17-18,000 max IMO.

I will give you 17k for it. That will never happen, but I thought that I would at least offer it. 29k is a little steep.

no dealers are using blackbook value for cars...especially cars 5+ years old.

Manheim is the only way to get the dealer value...

So I mean yeah...13K being the top of the price in my opinion, its possible that someone out there might offer 14. I still don't see it going higher as much as I'd like it to (being a marauder owner myself I wish our cars had better resale value lol)

You're right..the black book is just a guide and many dealers are now using the auction as a true indicator. However, if he has the time to wait, he could find a buyer looking for a real low milage clean MM. How many are out there for sale or auctions..that are real clean? That one buyer may pay upwards of 15-17k. Remeber there's an arce for every seat.

Maybe he can find a Car Collector willing to give him top Dollar. The more he gets in the long run the better for all of us in the future. In my opionion most of the posts here are low balling his asking price. He might have to lower his price a little but their is always someone willing to pay Top Dollar for a car like that. Good luck with your sale .

FWIW,
If I were selling one of my MMs today, I'm not sure I would even post here. Sorry, guys and gals, but that is the harsh reality of this site. Hawking prices over the 'Net w/o seeing or knowing jack abou the owner or the car is fruitless, IMHO.
There are some here who have to sell their cars that I wouldn't even give 10 cents for because I know how hard they have been flogged (to death) and then they wonder why their cars have problems with 'low' miles! LOL!
Not a rant or a sermon, just my 2 cents. I hope the general attitude improves.
