Was getting gas at a local station, some Douche Bag looking guy pulls up and looks at me and says after i stared at his car a bit "Nice car, but this will beat ya". I asked what he had done to it... he said ah, just the factory supercharger, it really whines down if you let off before it goes into second (****in idiot), but once i hit 150 the car still keeps goin but just about is at its limit. He preceeds to try to lecture me how its the same motor out of a 03 cobra bla bla bla.... than preceeds to say how the police interceptors are slow unless you swap the marauder motor in and that they have no chance of ever beating one even highly modified. This sorta ticked me off, but i let it go till he tells me that i need to trade my peice of **** in and get one like his. I sorta got pissed (hey, i love marauders)
I said nice..... id like to see how it runs. I leave, he follows me and starts being a DB, nailing it, near rearending me a few times ect.
Next light, right before you go onto the expressway, he revs it and there is a mile long bridge. I just look, say why the hell not, and BOOT it come green.
First I had him by a fender, second gear i was just pulling, sure enough i shifted into third and i pulled a bit more. I looked down and did the OH ****, hit the brakes because i was going way too fast and slowed down. I wish i woulda pulled harder but i didnt expect much with my knock sensor turning the timing down bigtime thanks to **** gas.
Personally.... I respect all YOU guys, its nothing personal, just DBs like this that dont deserve a car like they have. The look on his face though at the next light was priceless.

Two years ago we never had this, there was no place for this, I personally have no idea who the member is. I have nothing against him, I am just trying to show how this site has changed, we now have third generation Marauder owners, of course the average age has dropped because very few 20 year olds could afford a 36K car in 2003. To me we have lost focus on the car, we have personal attacks. I have seen members attacked for there choice of modifications, I just do not get it, yes I am 58, not 17, but I do not feel 58, I feel the same today as I did in 2003, when the first Marauder was sold, there was a air of excitement over this unique car, and when I found questions that could not be answered I sought answers out, with out confrontation expertise from Ford, as well as Roush , I backed it up with proof and accredited confirmation. To me this current change could have been contained with intelligent non confrontational methods, and yes I still love this car and feel it has much more to offer.

No, the primary purpose of this post is to show that someone that is so self filled with a ego and so hating doesnt deserve such a decent car.
Dennis.... Really.... im just a little ticked off that this person kept driving like a DB and kept doing so with such a overinflated ego. You said it yourself, its about being part of a community, not being a self centered idiot and not willing to accept things. Age has nothing to do with it. This person was a good 28 years old and knew better than to have the maturity level of a 12 year old. This person got confrontational as soon as he started crawling up my rear bumper about to rearend me. Its a shame that the community at times cant just suck some of it up, shake hands, and go racin if ya get my point. Age, race, color (SB, Black, DTR, blue), sex, or even SITES and tunes now. You guys bought the cars to have fun and enjoy them, not to be big giant DBs towards each other. If i wanted to be treated / treat someone like a DB, id hang out with the 2100 mustang clubs in the area. I know the real MM owners. You know what, i never wanted a marauder till i met Bradley G and Justbob. Two of the nicest guys ya can meet, than i met zack, takedown, uncle lar, Chitownmarauder, Mest30, and a few others and it made me realize that they love their cars and let me tell you, i love mine, but i can tell you id love a marauder much more. After giving Brads car a spin, I about bought one till i had to get smart and realized a 12 grand car note was not a smart idea when i was going to lose my job.

What ever happened to Panther love? :)
I guess I'm pretty lucky, there's a lot of Ford love around here. The import guys don't even bother me too much (Well, I did have a hand in their fastest engine swaps, haha).
I'm a bit young and not a first-gen owner of my MM, but I treat it with respect and I'm not out dogging the **** out of it trying to prove a point.

Staying neutral on this...................There was right and wrong involved (wrong was definately bringing it here:shake:)
But for people that don't know Ryan, I will say this, If he actually gets up to the speed limit then its a miracle, somebody had to have really pissed him off.
If I had a guy damn near try and rear end me to prove a point, I would definately try and shut him down.:beatnik:
But Ryan, were you really looking for sympathy about a marauder on a marauder sight? BTW Just where is this SB? I might need to compare notes on which model S/C he chose from the factory option list............:D

I don,t have to half, of them are already here now, and why do you think that is???. It was because of the love of this car by its owners, and there was no name calling, or off color remarks about any members own personal modifications, and the wealth of knowledge that was here. and I am sure it is cut and pasted over there now.
So what's wrong with his post? No one here ever vented before about some a-hole driver? So this one happened to be driving a Marauder and he spanked him, big deal. He beat on a Marauder, not your old lady or your puppy, sheesh.

His post on a Marauder website was a little 'in your face' so I'm not suprised at the reactions.
If I posted about blowing away a DB in a CV on CV.Net, I am sure the reaction would be much less civil.
Maybe the DB in the SB will get mad and sell his 'slow' Marauder...problem solved!
(I would love to run into a DB like that, regardless of what kind of car they were driving...I never can get people like that to run me!...:depress:)

I'm not completely sure that a 17 year-old kid with something to prove needs to go 150MPH to do it. Sounds like instant death in overtime. No matter what you drive - somebody will always have something faster. Unless your daily driver happens to be a 14,000 horsepower 330MPH Top Fuel Dragster - you'll be in good shape.

So what is suicidal speed?? I've sc***** up remains from a bicycle crash, so apparently anything over 15 or 20 Mph is too fast. Let alone a 17 YO racing on the streets. Sounds like your trying to remove yourself from the gene pool......

Us old timers may have done the same thing - but not at such speeds on extremely crowded streets. I learned my lesson by sliding sideways into a ditch and getting the whole car up on it's side.

Bad Merc,
How do you know how fast Ryan was going? I dont believe he gave a number. How do you know the streets were crowded? I dont remember reading that, either. You learned your lesson by getting into an accident? Glad you made it out ok, but spewing insults on the web isnt going to teach anyone a lesson. They will either grow up on their own or get into an accident themselves to get scared straight. Instead of insults, maybe you should write about your own experiences as a young driver.

Then I got a Marauder. So, I get to be young twice. :D
It is really an interesting experience to show up at a car show or a Marauder event like Louisville, Carlisle, or Marauderville and see 18 year old guys/gals and folks approaching 70 and everywhere in between --- hanging out, talking and lovin' the Marauder. It has developed the most diverse following that I have ever seen.

How am I chiding you? You guys are all mad because a 17 year old in a vic beat a Marauder. Who cares. I've seen some old a$$ people doing stupid things while driving. Age has nothing to do with anything. So I dont understand the issue. Is it because a vic beat a Marauder? If so, then it's time for the people who get mad at that to grow up, not the 17 year old. I'm not trying to rationalize anything. Old timers (not meaning old timers on this site, just older people in general) are set in there ways and will not budge, regardless if they are dead wrong. That's just how it is. And teenagers are dumb and immature and that's just how it is. You cant save the world by getting on one kids case for doing things that every single one of us have done, so why throw the insults? IMO, it's because he beat a Marauder.
I went over the thread and do not see where anyone is getting on him for beating a Marauder! The issue seems to be be saftey here in my opinion. Yes as we get older we figure out that street racing is not as wise as we once thought it was. Sometimes us old people feel the need to point out the safe way as we do remember what we once did. I can tell you I would not drive that way on the street these days as the car population has gone way up and so has the law enforcement. Take it to the track where it is safe! If beating a Marauder with a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis was a problem I would have been thrown out of here a long time ago!

I don't give a rat's azz about who beating whom. Street racing is dumb. Exercising a little maturity, the kid would have just shrugged it off, told the guy "whatever" and let it go at that.
Did I do some dumb stuff years back? Absolutely! Did I get called out on it? For sure. Some of the stuff didn't hit home, other things did. If telling somebody that what they did isn't too smart is an "insult" rather than just keeping quiet and letting the dumb stuff continue, well then color me guilty.

If this thread has nothing to do with a vic beating a Marauder or the OP's age and only with safety, then why are the ones who are stressing safety only in this thread and not the countless other storyboard threads that have stories far more reckless than this one?
The ones that are talking about safety here do not condone the street racing. It is hard to find a place to light em off on the street anymore. When I was a kid you could go out in the country and not see a car for a long time. Its not that way anymore! The younger you are the more dangerous it is and its my fear that someone will get hurt and we do not want that. The same goes for drinking and driving and the pitfalls of it. I have been thru that with my son and wish it on no one. Just be safe as life is to short! Now lets go back to having some fun.

Go over it again. Nobody said it directly, but many people hinted towards it. Post #7 - go post this on CVN.
Post #13 asks if he is looking for sympathy by beating a marauder on a marauder site.
Post # 18 - Before the whole safety thing even came up, this post mentions how the topic was "in your face" towards Marauders and that the reactions are warranted.
Post # 23 - A sarcastic "dont you know vics are faster than Marauders?"
Post # 25 - I'd like to hear both sides of the story. WHy? Because Ryan couldnt have won?

I'm not mad at all. I don't do dumb sh**, so it doesn't happen to me. Sometimes in life, you have to THINK before you act.
The OP is 17, how many years has he been driving? How much real life experience does he have dealing with situations that will arise during high speed driving?
No one is insulting/putting down/worried a MM got smoked, it is ADVICE, untill the OP gets some more life experience, he should cease his high speed adventures.... or tomorrow may not come, seen it many times.

Point well taken, and very sorry about the incident involving your son. But again, why pick on him and not everyone else who post reckless stories? Just because of his age? That's not really fair because in reality, he shouldnt know better and the other, older members who do stupid things (myself included) should no better.
I do not think picking on him is my issue here. Sometimes things just need to be said. Why do you keep on beating this anyways? Its time to just let it go.

If someone hasn't seen Toy Story, they won't get it. The second is on a Chevy Cobalt SS in my 'hood. Tag has COPS LOL on it. My theory A.) is his parents are cops or B.) he likes getting stopped 20 times a day.

The real point being made by Dennis is that this site is dramatically changing. We are not only into 2nd, but now 3rd generation MM owners who are younger and bring a different attitude and reaction to many things. This is just a fact of life with many boards. But, us older guys who started this site and gave our all to these cars are beginning to feel pushed out. Lack of repect in many ways - is one old school term to use. I don't expect the younger guys to fully understand, but this is the feeling many of the older guys are having.

Tell em Glenn! Nothing like getting this figured out at the race track.

Because it's not fair. How many people who have met Ryan need to tell you that this guy must have really p*ssed him off for Ryan to react like that because it's not in his nature? It was a one time thing. Meanwhile, in the other storyboard threads, motor head is smoking cabbies out and it's funny (until the cabby pulls out a .45 and blows him away), Miguel loses to a Prius and it's funny to everyone. Justbob is racing against a BMW. Doom tells his stories and everyone says congrats on the kill. I just dont get it.

It was not intended to be a CV vs Marauder or Young Vs Old debate at all, but it turned into that. It was intended as a douchebag vs Non Douchebag debate.
By the way, i knew the light timing on the bridge and there was NO ONE in sight for a good mile where this was, and it wasnt possible because the light was red for quite a bit. I wouldnt have gone on green had it not been safe...
Id be in a marauder right now had i been foolish and taken a car note out (i sometimes regret not doing so), but im not because i did the responsible thing and said if i lose my job i dont want to be stuck with a car note. Im stuck with less powerful, less luxurious, bloatier, not really a marauder sort of car. This is the third time i have street raced in my life, the first time was with another member going down a deserted road and i got my ass handed to me.
The only reason i even went at it with this guy was for the off chance I won and that at least if i kept up with him maybe he would reconsider talking **** to everyone. I still dont know how i pulled the win outta my ass.
I usaully go settle things at the strip, not on the street. Ask most of the members here, i dont go around driving like a jackass. The only time i can drive like a jackass is when others are doing so and i try to, it just doesnt work well with me. Not my nature and I try too hard.
As far as that goes, the car had 22s or something on it so im sure thats why it was so slow as well as the fact that it didnt sound healthy.

Spectragod,
Did I say it was ok? No. Basically, dont get mad at someone else for things that you did, too. If an accident happens, then it happens. Just be lucky it didnt happen to you when you were doing dumb *****.
Bad Merc,
How do you know how fast Ryan was going? I dont believe he gave a number. How do you know the streets were crowded? I dont remember reading that, either. You learned your lesson by getting into an accident? Glad you made it out ok, but spewing insults on the web isnt going to teach anyone a lesson. They will either grow up on their own or get into an accident themselves to get scared straight. Instead of insults, maybe you should write about your own experiences as a young driver.
I never spewed a single insult. The car I lost control in was a 1974 Chevelle with a straight 6 of about 90 horsepower. No matter HOW fast he was going - I am confident that it was faster than I ever could have gone. I lost it passing in the rain. I was using "crowded roads" as a blanket statement. Fact is, 20 years ago there weren't as many drivers OR roads as there are now. Quit trying to nit-pick for crying out loud. Get your post count up in a more constructive manner.

Since my name just happened to get mentioned............I never exceeded the 35 mph speedlimit when i was playing with the BMW, it was nothing but slowin down and nailing it again. I know better and without a license, no career. It is a very very rare day when I see 70 mph, usually I actually maintain most laws. As you might recall I almost hit the wall on 294 at 95 mph last january, this was possibly the most foolish thing that i've ever done, also because I have a family of five the enviroment around me is allways my first priority, so believe me when I tell you there was not a single vehicle within 1/2 mile or more in front of me nor a vehicle anywhere near the back of me when I was foolishly "blowing the dust out of it". I realise crap happens when you least expect it so I don't mess around in the company of others.
Mest, Honestly I don't remember now but wasn't it you the one doing powerslides right next to all of our cars at the pizza place? BTW Takedowns kid was in his car trying to stay warm.

You're correct, expert finger pointers and fans of public horsepower exhibition all chimed in with major kudos. I am stuck in a wrecker 168 hours a week. I can tell you what a seatbelted body does when it is ejected from a vehicle, I can show you a scalped corpse from a Nissan Sentra and I have recovered cars with contents that will give you nightmares forever. I realized how delicate the balance is long before it was too late.

I hardly ever post on here but I will chime in on this one. Im 47 so I understand what all you guys are saying here. But I will say this even at 47 I dont always make the wisest decisions. I go the the track regularly but I cant say that I have never raced on the street. I do agree totally that it is not the place to play. This is a car site and people sometimes do play a little on the street. I dont know how many videos I have seen of Marauders doing burnouts in such all on streets. I will just about bet that most of us givin the right situation would do the same. The right situation is key. But even with that being said,it is never a good idea to race on the street. I will also say that Its been several years since I have done so. Sometimes its just a 25 to 60 mph thing on a open road. I understand all the post on here and do not promote any racing on the street but it does happen. So lets all just be super careful. Keep the racing at the track where it belongs. I have been going to local car cruises and such just for this reason. I get to show my car off some and the police never bother you at a car cruise like they would in a parking lot.

So he posted a story about speeding, woop-dee-do!! So you know someone killed by a drunk driver or by someone who was speeding? WHO DOESN'T?!?! I got run over, yes RUN OVER by a drunk driver when I was 13. When I was 17 I got my face crushed in a head on collision at night with another car, whos driver was rolling a joint!! Ugg.. Sounds like cover up time! A Marauder that "runs like crap" and is wearing 22" wheels isn't the street racer type. Most Marauder owners don't go looking for trouble (even 2nd gen owners) - but will defend when challenged. Sorry but I just don't find your story very believable.
What does your CVPI run at the drags? Whats your best time and what year do you have? Got timeslip? My old CVPI had more mods than yours and ran a 14.9 with stock 3.27s
My Marauder with *only* a tune and a CAI ran a 14.5 - this is fact - timeslip is posted.
Summary of your story: you raced and beat a mean guy who had a poorly running Marauder with 22" wheels. Great for you except I find the story questionable - from a guy that got banned on CVN?

Ryan get's flamed because we all know a CV with a tune will not be able to take on a SC Marauder unless there were some serious issues with the car or driver. The story maybe true, but I have a hard time believing it myself.

Dom, you missed the sarcasm of the MM driver. He claims to have the "factory supercharger" meaning the dope has no clue about the car he owns.
Illegal racing has always been a grey area on this site, some people dont mind it and others are against it. The fact that a 17yr old posted up about it just fueled the flames of those against it even more. Thats what this thread seemed to turn into ,those for and against street racing, But guess what?
Theres no way to defend street racing ,its illegal and no matter what your surroundings are or how good of a driver you think you are, its always going to be illegal. You cant make a list of reasons why you felt it was safe to do and nobody will care to listen to them either. I street race, not as much as I did when younger but I will not back down from a challenge. I wont defend my reasons why, I just know its illegal and I cant win any arguement defending it.
Now if it were about coming on here to brag about smoking a Marauder then thats great you smoked a Marauder, to own a CV and pull that off makes it even more of a bragging right. Sort of like me smoking a vette. It may mean nothing to the vette owner but its a big ego boost to myself.
However if I smoke a vette and post about it on the vette forums, Ill have to prepare for the backlash that will follow.
This makes you a open target on both points.

I NEVER SAID THE CAR WAS SCed. He was a dumb prick. He said it was, it was actually as N/A as it gets. This idiot thought it had a supercharger because it whined at upper RPMs. Sounded like he had a bad pulley or AC clutch bearing.
You also have to understand, this happened in a somewhat ghettoish area. Car was silver with 22in chrome wheels that had rubberband tires.
my CVPI is running high 14s at the moment on 93 if conditions are right.
Thats the whole story. Jesus.... the sad part is none of this ******** would have came about if i was 29 or 37. Im a white boy in the hood. Simple as that (no offense to anyone out there). I see, but Ryan you knew you were gonna get flamed for this.
It has nothing to do with your race or age... but some might hold the age against you. Ask any of the Motor City boys... I got it all the time from them when I was a teenager.
You don't go on a Marauder site and say you killed a Marauder, but if the story was completely straight like you put it, you may not have gotten so much "lip" from everyone.

Even if he comes on here and claims to have killed, slaughtered, whatevered a Marauder, he's been here long enough and too many people know him to know he isn't just talking out of his ass.
Mest, isn't it funny how everyone can speak about their top speeds and street runs, all fine until the younger posters chime in..?

Nope, doesn't matter how old you are. I think you are just plain lying.
It's hard to get a CVPI to run 14's - I know I owned one.
What mods do you actually have? What year is it?
Where is your timeslip? Not posted huh?
I call BS on your story because:
o A CVPI takes a lot of mods to run a 14.9 - you have what just a tune?
o Your car "apparently" does this under the "right" conditions
o You say you killed it - then add facts like the MM had 22" wheels and "ran like crap" *afterwards* - perhaps to make it more believable
o Ghetto Rauders with 22's aren't typical street racers.
It's not your age, it's not the street race. It's just that you are a very questionable person - with no sig - who got banned from CVN (very hard to do I might add) Who is essentially telling us lies in a lame attempt to gain credibility and/or likeability. Facts just don't add up. Even if they somehow did (which they DON'T) it's still lame, which makes you lame for trying to pull it off. This is why people are reacting negatively towards you.
Anytime you want to race me let me know. Then you can post your story.

I've seen Ryan run his car in person. It's a 2004 P71 and IIRC, he ran mid-low 15s (I believe he ran 15.3) in the middle of summer. I'm not sure if he raced at a later date to get 14s. BTW, 14s are very attainable in Vics, several have done it with some bolt ons, even in pre MY 2004. It's pretty common knowledge that a stock 04 Marauder runs about 15.2-15.5. With that info and the fact I witnessed Ryan run mid-low 15s, is very reasonable to assume he could keep up with, if not beat a stock Marauder.

I don,t have to half, of them are already here now, and why do you think that is???. It was because of the love of this car by its owners, and there was no name calling, or off color remarks about any members own personal modifications, and the wealth of knowledge that was here. and I am sure it is cut and pasted over there now.
I am a member CVN as well as MM.net. I'm here because I love panthers and power with that touch of class, period. No crap talking or face slapping. I will support ANY site who has love for the panther and helps its members reach all of their goals for their said ride. I am also from the old school gen :beatnik:, with respect for all ages. I love the CVPI and the Marauder. Irregardless of which panther you own, you should ALWAYS show love to all of your family members (CV, MM, MGM etc) and leave the bickering to the 5 inch 12K revving ricers who live for E bickering. Dennis and those like him are why I come to sites like this and avoid most import sites. Just something to remember fellas. Post on and keep it as safe as possible on the streets!

This is ridiculous.
The reality of Marauders is they are at the bottom rung of the "fast" ladder without forced induction. When you weigh two tons dry weight, it tends to slow you down. If you seriously think your Marauder can't be beat, even without serious modification, get real. I have a friend with a Cooper S modified to not much more than about 210HP at the crank that can hang with me all the way up to his fifth gear from a roll, and that's after my car has a near-straight through exhaust, an intake, and a Lidio tune, I'm a little afraid to think how it would've turned out if I was stock.
Secondly, ANY of you that have done ANY power modification for your Marauder, then come on here and say you should never push the car, flex it's muscle, go fast, etc, you're being ridiculous. There's a valid argument that you'd buy this car for its class and reputation and collectibility, but if that was all you bought it for you wouldn't modify it for more power (I give exception to maybe muffler or exhaust work, it's nice for it to sound as good as it looks all performance aside.) If you REALLY cared nothing about power and speed, there'd be no reason to own any vehicle that has more than even 200HP.
I think a LOT of people need to learn the difference between driving fast and driving stupid, too.
Final thought for the OP: Keep on keepin' on bro.
