We have all read the many threads about how our dealers don't/can't/won't find replacement parts for our MM's. In another year, this will become even worse when this car goes out of production. For those of us who plan to keep our MM's for a long time, we could have real trouble in the future replacing things as they wear out. Should we start thinking about whether we need to "pre-buy" some key parts that we can anticipate needing replacement in the future? If so, what parts would some of you put on the list? Hope this doesn't sound paranoid, but if our dealers don't know anything about the car now, and have trouble getting parts for us, just think what it will be like in '05 when they no longer sell them.

Got my extra set of floor mats last week, parts manager could only find a total of 6 sets sitting around dealerships in the US. Back ordered from FMC. This may be due to all sets going in the new MM or??? I would get em while you can.

I'd like to buy a dark charcoal (black, dark grey, whatever) drivers seat from a wrecked one. That way when mine wears out I can slip the new one in.

I wonder about the wheels, I would be willing to bet that OEM will not have any five years from now.

Yep, I already have an extra set of floor mats, but I'm wondering more about things that will actually keep the car from running. How many necessary parts like alternators, water pumps, other basics which the car can't live without are unique to our car? Not being that familiar with FoMoCo, I don't have enough experience to know how many under the hood parts we have which interchange with other cars.

My guess is that most of the items like that sre going to be readily available. I am not absolutley sure, but I think most of the "workings" are shared either with the GM or cobra. The exterior stuff, ie: mats, badges, bumpers, etc. will be the scarce items in the future. Anything that has the Marauder logo on it would be questionable to purchase down the road in 5 or 6 yrs. IMHO

umm...im pretty sure that by law ford has to continue makeing parts for cars for up to 7 years after there discontinued, but that could just be fenders, hoods, etc.

Motor is "SVT'S" so I am not concerned about it. Aftermarket will supply us I am sure of it? Many parts are used/borrowed from Fords parts bin.

^^^what they all said^^^

Most of the parts on this car, other than things that say "Marauder", like the rear bumper cover and the floor mats, are, like Bigdog said, scarfed from the GM/CVPI parts bins, while the engine is basically a Cobra motor minus the blower...

I'd get a spare set of floor mats and exhaust tips, maybe the god's-head center caps for the wheels, and especially a spare set of "dice" valve-stem caps, in case martyo loses his again and needs to steal yours...

Nope - nada...

There is not any law that requires any replacement parts to be made for any length of time....

Most accessories such as radios etc are gone after the current year to begin with...

After that you are at the OEMs mercy...

It used to be that Ford kept parts available for about 10 years.
Some longer.
