This might soung like a strange question, but do you need to remove the passenger side motor mount to remove the valve cover? I have another thread going ("My Marauder is a POS") describing the problem I am having with the my Marauder's engine (broken timing chain). I got the car home from the dealship yesterday and I was going through the parts they removed. Among the parts was my right side motor mount. I thought it was weird that the motor mount had been removed. I checked the paperwork the dealer gave me, and sure enough, it said the motor mount had been removed so the valve caver could be removed so the timing chain could be inspected. Am I getting the proverbial smoke blown up my ass? :bs:

You don't have to remove the the motor mount. Just remove the motor mount bolt put a piece of 2x4 between a jack and the oil pan and jack the motor up about 1 - 2 inches.

Ok, so it's not the motor mount that's in the way, it's just that the motor needs to be raised?

I can have the passenger side cover off in about 25 minutes, motor mount untouched.

Heres my detailed write up when I did my cam cover swap. I never touched the motor mounts.

There is a possibility that the tech who looked at your MM decided to remove the mount to access the valve cover. It shouldn't be too hard to reinstall it.

I'm not confused, I just wanted to know if what the dealer did was correct or if they we're trying to take advantage of me. Apparently the factory repair manual probably says to remove the motor mount. It's not a big deal that the mount has been removed, it's one less thing I'll have to do to pull the motor.
