Guess what this is going to fit?
This was my idea for a custom hood and finally getting it done. Based off the new Shelby 500 KR. A friend of mine did the sheet metal work, yeah is a steel hood. I am in the process of priming and painting it. This is a extra hood so I am keeping the stock one so I can change it back. I will post pictures when its done.

Before you paint it you should guage interest in it and if you get enough guys interested you could have a fiberglass shop make a mold for it. Maybe even make a few bucks.

it looks like the leading edge of the raised portion needs some work. Other than that, it looks nice.

Thanks for the compliments.
I won't be making or selling these its WAY to time consuming to make by hand. I will be one of none or few with this style hood and that was the purpose.
We made the hood by cutting the top layer of metal lifting it up and filling in the sides. Then added the front details. This uses less steel and helps keep the hood lighter, so the hood struts should still hold it up.
More pictures to come.

Looks good, but it doesn't seem to be functional. Why all that work for just looks?
You will have a lot more air drag with that hood. You could run a cable to it so when It's not raining you pull those nostrils open!

its not functional and neither is the real Shelby 500 KR! The drag won't be noticable. The air intake is over in the corner and it would take some more engineering to get some metal duct work to run over there. I have ram air on my carburated Fairlane and there is no power gain with it anyway.

I always thought ram air was a good thing. Didn't realize that the King of the Road wasn't functional.
If you added the mesh and heat extractors at the rear then it could be functional.

functional is one of those funny things. Define the ram air hoods function...
If it is to help pressurize the air intake then no without ducting tot air filter this will not be functional. But it does help to provide cooler & fresh air to the filter so in that sense it funstions.

Nice mod, but I'd take it back and have them fix the front corners so they lay flat. Looks like they are tweaked from the new scoop outwards.

Certainly gives the car a unique look, though my affinity is more for a low reverse cowl.

It looks very cool. I like it. I agree though, the edges of the hood look like they need some bump stop adjustments. Did the hood warp a bit with the welding maybe?

I think its the hood bumpers I have to fix that. I put the hood on the night before we left for the Power Tour.

Which car? I thought we were talking about the one with the custom hood scoop, which seems to have stock headlights. :o
The car with the louvers on the hood is not the car in question for this thread...or so I thought...

If I may ask, what does a custom hood like that cost: fabrication and paint?
