Could it be done? Should it be done?

Just imagining how nice the engine way would look with the entire motor black.

Dont think I can recall any threads about having a painted block

I had my last one painted with thermal dispersant coating.
The Boss5.0 block I'm running now was already black when I took it out of the box.

You need to powdercoat the aluminum block for it to stick

Wrong, listen up kids, you paint a engine just like you would a fender or a whole car. Get it clean with the same products paint stores sell to prep your car, then sand or scotch pad the motor or motor parts. Then clean again, now the important part, use an epoxy 2 part sealer (just like on a car), then apply your paint. I always use base coat clear coat for that nice gloss. I could write a book on this subject, just trust me car paint loves engines. Just get it clean, and use all the steps and products for painting a regular car. The motor in this picture is my car, I have been asked if I powder coated the motor, I reply by saying just what I have said here. See attached thumbnail.

It is hard to get paint to adhere to Aluminum...especially if it will be heat cycled.
Cast Iron and Steel are easy to get paint to adhere to.
Something to do with the metallurgy.

I have painted aluminum engine parts and have had good luck with the results...BUT you must use a primer specifically for aluminum.
Years ago there was a primer spray paint for aluminum & galvanized metals called;
"Ferrothane Surfa-Bond"
Don't know if they still sell it.
