ok not to sound like the jerk, but how are half of the pics posted here abandoned?

An old truck sitting in a parking lot full of cars with a dog in the seat is not abandoned, nor is an old car in a hotel...


Anyways, here's a shot of my car and my friends inside of an abandoned warehouse. And if you need proof that its abandoned, ill also add the picture of the police leaving after questioning our presence on vacant property that wasn't ours.

This Photography Forum is not about Marauders or even cars... it's about your creativity as a photographer. Show us your eye for the less obvious. Show us composition and technique.

When I think of abandoned, I think of an empty bird's nest, a seashell vacated by its former occupant, a boarded up building. "Abandoned" should be the main focus of the picture, not a backdrop. Black_Noise and Cruztaker got the idea.

I wish I wasn't so busy.... there is such potential here.

I found this "Abandoned" boat in the Atlantic a few years back. It was anchored and stayed there a couple weeks then ended up sunk in the shallows off Morgan Island near Beaufort.:shake:

Just an observation -- take it or leave it as you will.

I think you folks need to figure out what you are trying to accomplish here. If you are trying to stimulate participation, it isn't working well. The photo topic challenge started off with nearly 20+ participants. It was fun. Seems participation has fallen off to only a handful of people and there has been criticism of technique, strict adherence to topic, date of pic, etc.

I really enjoy CRUZTAKER's pics and those that Oldekid provides. These guys have a real eye for photography regardless of the specific subject. Several others are very creative in their pics too. However, everyone who submitted a pic in this thread, somehow saw "Abandoned" as an appropriate topic. I can definitely see abandoned in the pic of the dog in the old car. The originator did .... I can even see "Abandoned" in the pic of the old car in front of the hotel 'cause there isn't anyone around.

If you want to encourage participation .... maybe a little more openness with respect to selection of a photo meeting the topic is needed. Otherwise, you are only gonna be looking at entries from 2-3 people in the next round.

Amen Charlie...it is kinda hard to have up to date pics of random subjects. I enjoy the photo challenge, but I dont have photo ops that frequently. But I will try to participate when I can so that this can continue...I love viewing members pics!

I understand the idea being to get some fresh pics posted, but it's not always convenient for everyone to meet the time constraints or the weekly theme, as he stated.

With that in mind, I'd like to remind everyone that if you have pics of anything, taken at anytime, that you wish to share, you can still do so by simply starting a new thread and posting. If you can't meet the specific requirements of the photo challenge, don't let that stop you from posting, and sharing your work as you normally would.

So, participate if you can, and if not, post on your own. Either way, just keep them coming!

Ive seen this too, but I first started by asking people to go out and take new photos, because if you are just using what you have... say there was one about old cars, and I saw people posting pics they have had for a year that had and car in the background that way OBVIOUSLY not intended... then wheres the fun in that?


Its up to you people, use what you have. We can strick down the new photos only rule.

This should help some with the level of participation, in fact, Marauderjack's pic is a great example. Although it's not current, it fits the theme perfectly, and I like it and agree that it should be allowed.

Actually, if we were voting, it would get my vote.
