For some members the installation of long tube headers has delivered an increase in hp/tq along with an increase in db levels. I want my cake & sanity too. The addition of a in line resonator my very well be a solution. Our choices are as follows: Aero, Vibrant, borala, HKS, Gibson, Ansa ect. Any input would be heipful.

Dynomax super turbo mufflers that's all you need. I have a 324 shortblock, Longtube headers with 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collectors and then 3" pipes back no cats. I have those super turbos it was less than $100 for 2 and the car is nice and quiet unless I really get into it.

Hey Kurt...I "heard" things improved with some gaskets and tightening. Do you feel it in the SOTP?

If the Dynomax Super Turbos don't sound or feel right, 18" Magnaflows are a better bet. Nice, deep sound but a little less interior resonance than with the Super Turbos. I have run them both on the same vehicle and can attest to this.

Looks like the mid muffler is the pick to quiet the beast. Does it quiet it down between traffic lights ? What does it sound like under full throttle ? What manufacturer & size is it ?

Looks like a Magnaflow resonator.

Why not just get quieter mufflers or res tips if you are worried about noise? I think adding an inline resonator would hinder perrformance a little bit.

It actually sounds amazing and cuts noise and drone considerably...have heard that setup on a Marauder but it wasnt a resonator but a 2 inlet / 2 outlet muffler used as an X-pipe. GO FOR IT!

Well I went for the magnaflow 4x9 oval 14" pollished stainless steel part # 1486 muffler. I was going to order 3/8" thick 3" three hole stainless steel flanges have welded on at the collector but decided to go with SS ball flanges for a leak free fit. The ball flanges are made by magnaflow part #10745 They are a new item for Maganaflow. Pictures will follow.

Think I may try this also, how do you like it Burt? I have a bit of resonance at around 2-3k when cruising at around 45-55 mph and would like to quiet it down a little. I don't think it would hurt the performance that much.

Do you guys who have the resonance, have aftermarket non-res tips? I wonder if just putting res tips back on would help?

I have stock exhaust manifolds, H-Pipe, Magnaflow 18's and OEM tips with NO DRONE!!!:shake:

I'm with you "Stranger"....I believe the delete tips may be the problem??

I was told by one of the best in the "Bidness" to keep the OEM tips....I did and have been happy with the exhaust for 4 years or longer!!

I still have the stock tips w/the resonator in them, but I also have a full system w/Kooks, x-pipe, and Magnaflow mufflers. I not have the little round things that were welded to the stock mufflers, these were supposedly something install at the factory to help w/resonance.

I only have the drone when cruising around 45-60. Unfortunately this is the speed of the flow of traffic when I'm cruising to work for 32 miles so I have the drone for most of my drive.

Somebody(can't remember who) told me if you extend the tips a bit farther out it helps with the drone.

I already have mine extended beyond the rear bumper, still get the drone. I have what looks like the complete Kooks system from Reinhart.

I have the sw header and 3 in cat and the 3 mag muffler and stock tip extended 1/2 inch and normal driving no drown. If I drive at light throttle and shift into OD at 42 mph up to 46 mph have slight drown in the car. Other then that best system for low sound per Brian the installer.

It was English, but bad English.

Let me try to translate:

I have SW headers, 3" cats and Magnaflow mufflers, stock tip extended 1/2 inch. No drone with normal driving.
If I'm driving at light throttle and when it shifts into OD between 42-46 mph, there's a slight drone in the car.
Other than that, it's the best quiet system as per Brian the installer.
