http://www.autogeek.net/ The site offers all kinds of info and also videos on how to detail a car. Great site best one I've seen yet! Am thinking about buying a Porter Cable 7424 and the pads and doing the Light Swril & spiderweb Remover on my Marauder. Does anyone own a 7424 buffer, is it any good? The Video (Light Swril Remover http://www.auto-geek.net/video/light/light_swirl_removal.html) shows how great the paint looks afterwards, wow! :burnout:

7424 is a great buffer and can get alot of imperfections out with some patience.

I too have a 7424. I think it's just right for me.

With the said, the new thing on the black is the FLEX.

The 7000 series PC are nice for swirl removal but it would take years to do heavy defect correction. I spent 5 hours on just the hood of my car with a rotary buffer doing a 4 stage correction and then the 5th stage was w/ the PC to do a final hologram removal. My car has 5 year old refinish clear coat on it and it is extremely hard to buff.

I use autogeek, I have several hundred dollars worth of compounds and another several hundred dollars worth of buffing bonnets from them (just for my personal cars)

Good supplier

Ive had a porter cable 7424 for several years. That being said I don't use it everytime I polish my car.
When I started out with the 7424 I was afraid to use it on my Marauder.I started on my wifes car.
And you don't need to use your muscles ,the tool has the proper weight to do the job. Just have to match speed to the appliacation your doing.

Just got my 7424, and ordered a bunch of stuff from Autogeek. I've been using the armstrong method + a 9" random orbit polisher I bought ~15 years ago. Time to step up. The MM is 7, and is starting to get some deeper scratches in it.

Autogeek had some things that have disappeared out of stores lately, namely water blades, and California dusters. Don't know why stores around here aren't carrying them.
