so I picked one up instead of my usual Mobil 1.

That's what I use on both black and BLUE. I find it easier to remove with the 1" nut attached at the end.

I remember reading on here somewhere that K&N oil filters are junk.

they're not junk... they're just not worth using.. Mobile1 filters rate higher in tests

I'm not saying they're junk, a whole bunch of people on this site said they are.

Even if there is a little controversy about a car part, (especially an oil filter) I would not use it on my car.

That's just me though, you guys can obviously do whatever you want to your own cars.

Thats all i use on BOTH of my cars. NEVER had an issue. :up:

K&N and Mobil 1 are both made by Champion Laboratories and are identical except for the 1" nut on the K&N.

...and fastblackmerc is correct; they are NOT junk, just too expensive.

My mistake! I was thinking of Fram oil filters that are junk, K&N is a good product.

My local Advance auto parts has a sale for 5 qts Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 oil filter for $30 bucks. Thats pretty much getting the $13 filter for free. just fyi..

^^ Finally, something more than just speculation and hear-say. It's a good filter. Tests I've seen online always rate it highly. Whether or not the 1" nut is worth the extra cost is up to you. Personally, I run them on both my cars and they work great.
