View Full Version : Intake spacers, yes no?
If you got one, could you tell any differance and are you happy with the results? And who did you buy it from if you are happy with it?

Yes, I could tell a difference. It kinda "broadens" the midrange power curve. It's a good bang-for-the-buck mod.
I got mine from Dennis.

... have had the PHP spacer on the 'Pigs for a while...as for any difference, not concerned as it is part of the total package of parts to make go-fast. Its intended to help at the low end for more grunt from a stop and any help down there is great !
:cool4:
Are they metal or just a thick ast gasket?
They are metal and easy to install.

Deleting the rear cats and installing one I picked up 10rwhp, 13ft-lbs.

That's what I'm talking about. See, I just want to know if anyone can tell any difference whatsoever, be it sounding better, slight seat of the pants change, anything.

I think this mod will make you happy if you have no expectations for gains.
I got mine for 50 clams off a member (I think he won it)it came powdercoated black.
When I took mine off, I installed the Trilogy.
That was a nice SOP change

So you still use it? Or do you not recommend one?

Just an FYI on SVTperformance a member took his 01 and did before/after dyno pulls, THAT DAY and picked up 10rwhp 13ft-lbs I believe. We have one on our 01' as well.

I feel it is a complementary mod .
I think someone dyno tested it on a centriffy car with positive results.
I did mine with UD pullies, so I could say I had some gains.

Allrighty, it seems to make a little difference according to most. For cost to gains, I would say 10 hp (going towards the high end) would justify the cost, anyone agree? Anyone not like thiers and want to sell it?

If you plan on ever getting headers and opening the exhaust yes it is worth getting. It allows more air to be in the intake manifold, more air in -more air out equals power.
I noticed slightly better mid range passing power after adding it.

Word, that's what I'm saying, I'm always in passing gear speed anyway, so I'll notice a differance.

I don't think I got 10 horse with the Steda pulley(s) and the spacer.
That spacer will not show any measurable gains all by itself.
Like I posted before, If you expect nothing, you will be happy.
If you expect to notice a difference by SOP, You may have some convincing to do on yourself.

I like mine, a slight seat-of-the pants increase, did help when passing to be sure. took about 20 minutes, I didnt take whole upper intake off, just wedged it up enough to slip in.

i just ordered mine through KarKraft for $95 with shipping. I also dug out my throttle body spacer today and am finally gonna figure out that PITA throttle cable adjustment.
If i do it right, i'll go dyno it, then install both spacers and see whats up.
Anyone agree?

Of course the newbies on the board do not want to use Search to find out that IT spacers (as well as TBs) were dyno tested several years ago and find not to be cost vs performance effective. Maybe 2 HP! Save your money and go with a proven HP increase - UDPs and EWPs worth about 8-10 HP each or even a CAI.
OK - :argue:

Some think the spacers are a waste of money others feel they are worth it. If it was a complete waste I'm surprised PHP still sells them and that a user on the Mach 1 boards by the name of Roy makes them and will even make ones that are thicker than PHP and people are buying them.
Do some research on it and decide for yourself. Sometimes a mod may not increase you peak hp or tq much it will help the rest of the power band. In that case the mod could be considered worth it.

I didn't want info from several years ago, I wanted real time answers from people currently here who have used one. Thanks, tho.

I'm settin' up an appoinment for 22Jul for a dyno session. Should be fun.
And this will be the first time my car will be on the dyno! i can't wait.
I'll post up the results to see if i really pissed away $150 or not.
I'll be doing a base run or two, then installing the spacers and running it.

Spend your $$ and ignore the factors previously investigated and still found to be true today. Many 4.6 books will state the some conclusions as well as several articles in MM&FFs. IT spacers are a waste of good money.

I would not have a spacer had it not come with my ported upper and lower intake.

A few folks on this board mentioned a manual tranny swap in a marauder would not work due to the weight of a marauder which is not true. You can't take everything you hear on one board as fact, you have to do research all around and make your own conclusions but most people would rather just make a thread and ask then do their own research in which case they are robbing themselves.
No offense to the original thread starter as I have done the same thing.
