View Full Version : Eibach's... My two pennies

Well... Got my Eibach's installed, been tooling around a bit with them, car stance is awesome...
The ride quality has potential, but I've come to the conclusion that the spring really needs to be combined with a properly valved shock. The stock shock just isn't as tight as the spring, and the slightly compressed state of the shock ain't helping any....
Result is a slightly exagerated "rebound" when you go over a significant bump. Not annoying, but enough to know that that ain't the way to be pimpin'... :pimp:
Sooooooooo....Now I want adjustable front shocks dang it... What are my chances anyone actually makes one for the panther platform? Ugh....

Would be nice to find a set of Koni's for the MM?!!

Wouldn't you be inviting the same problem with the Panther size shock? If the problem is the precompression of the factory shock maybe the solution is to find a shock that has a shorter throw. I don't know but I imagine that the folks who make shocks spec them by noting the fully extended length, the fully compressed length, and the length at the preferred ride height.
In my old business (electronic repair) we had catalogs of specs that told us everything we could ever want to know about an IC or other component. Is there a catalog of shocks?

With an adjustable shock, you can adjust the valving to accomodate for the shorter throw...

I talked to Koni before. They don't list one or even have anything close. Maybe someone with some more knowledge could talk to them. I don't even know what mounting it would take. I know our stock shocks are Tokico, which are already a good brand, but something adjustable would be nice.
P.S.: shox.com has our Eibach springs for $135 with free shipping. Unforunately ETA is 12/31/03. Just thought I mention that, for any of you interested. At least they are honest upfront with the delivery!
This may be way off base, but are there special shocks used on actual police CV's in conjunction with a beefier suspension? Just a thought...

IIRC the stock shocks on the marauder are Koni's, just not adjustable. The down side is that in 2003 the Panther platform completely changed the suspension components. For the better, but it's new and aftermarket has a harder time catching up.
Adjustable shocks would be nice, esp. after changing the springs.

I'm going to be digging into it...

Hey Logan,
Why just front springs? Any paticular reason for that?

As opposed to what? Considering the rear end is air-bagged and has no springs, it takes about 2 minutes with a wrench to reposition the height sensor on the rear to drop it down and inch or so...

Yes - different shocks and springs. The rear is steel springs instead of air bags. The rear upper control arms are different as well.
