Well, so far I've had a few Craig's list and Uncle Henry's tire kickers but nothing more. I'd rather sell her to someone here that appreciates MMs for what they are. Plus, I'll still be able to keep in touch with her lol. I've dropped the price to $7750 to compensate for some deferred maintenance I won't be able to get to. Nothing serious; just front tires, brakes are due, stupid check engine light since my gear install last fall. Cosmetically she's good with the exception of some scraping from two seperate H&R's on the front and rear bumpers. She just tonight rolled over 129k. I hate to give her up. She's been a big part of my life for the past six years but I have other responsibilities that take priority.
If I still have her on the 24th, I'll be taking her to Epping as I'm still curious as to how much was gained with the gears and tune.
I'll gladly send pics to anyone who's interested.

Drove by it last night Mike, still looked good to me.
Its a damn shame though, a well loved and taken care of Marauder for under 8k.... and still no bites!!

People stop me often and ask me..."Where you get your car from?" When I say NC they look at me like I am crazy...I tell them if you want one for a DECENT price you have to travel. I know ppl right now that want a Marauder...and for under 8k...but they will not leave the area to get one! I can put the word out here...but I doubt if they jump on it, but its worth a try.

Yup! I searched and searched for my Marauder, there was plenty of them for sale local to me but they were either too expensive or beat up!
I finally found the right car in Ohio and I bought it, couldn't have been happier with the end result.
Good like with the sale mike!

do 100 tickets @ $100....then donate a small portion to MM.net for supporting the raffle...

I think that it is amazing how little money, or for that matter, how small of a % that needs to go to charity or non-profit to qualify for a "Legal" raffle. I see "charity" car auctions all the time inter and intra state. I gotta tell ya...I am a sucker for them every time.
Anyway....look long enough and ask enough people, I am sure the dooms- day, nay-sayer, s-house lawyers will surface. No offense to screen name Doom.

You're absolutely right, ppl from our area are cheap as hell but they act like it's gonna cost 50K to buy a car outside the DMV. Before I got approved I almost went to St. Louis to get a DTR w/Sunroof/Wing from a Ford dealer for $13K w/ only 65K and ppl were trippin about that being too far LOL. If you want a deal you gotta be willing to travel.

Maybe "base" the auction in a different state then? It would be a very cool and unique way to sell the car, and I'm sure the site members would be excited about whomever wound up with it. It would forever be known as the mercurymarauder.net auction marauder. It could come with a special edition plaque.

Hmmmm... I've decided this is not a bad idea (after a few 4th of July screwdrivers, lol) I'm going to post an interest-gauging thread. If enough interest is there, I'll kick it off. I do have someone from Florida interested so we'll wait and see what they want to do.

Heh crazy eh? I searched the internet for 5 months and travelled from New Orleans to Roswell, NM to buy my black beauty .. got the 300A I wanted w/ less than the least mileage I was willing to take - 7500K+/- w/ the original everythings (alas, the dealer had given away the Jacket and other MM doo-dads because the buyers, a couple in their 70's who had come in to buy a Grand Marquis) for just under 20K$. That drive back NM & Texas was WILD ... there would be stretches of a hundred miles where I'd be the only one on the road ...
Two days after I got home to New Orleans I left for my cousin's baby's christening in NY. I decided to drive my new MM instead of my Bonneville so I could show off the car to my brother & get to know it a bit more.
Katrina hit the day after I got there.
When I finally was able to get back home there was a tree on my Bonnie. :(
SO the moral is: GO ANYWHERE YOU CAN to get the best MM you can get and when you get home, check the weather channel.
:)

You know, I can't help but think if I asked like $10,000 or $11,000, I would have sold this months ago. I'm thinking people think my car is some POS because my price is so low.

You are correct. I tried selling a third gen Firebird that had been stripped to bare metal, glazed where needed on door dings, 2k primed and sanded, painted, sanded, and buffed, and I listed it so cheap that I had a hard time selling it. I priced it in w/ the POS dented up 3rd gens that were 8 different colors just because I wanted to get rid of the car fast and it ended up being very hard to sell. I had people tell me the same thing, I priced it low enough that people probably assumed it had something wrong with it.
You can always raise your price

There are a couple nit-picky things, but the main issue is the CE light. The codes come back as P0406 (EGR flow Sensor A high input) and P1451 (manufacturer control auxiliary emission controls). RFoverlord thinks the mechs may have bumped some things during my gear and chip install as the components mentioned in these codes are right next to the ECU and the rear diff (I hope I got that right Bob). I was disappointed they gave me my car back with the light on as it wasn't on before the install. I also, unfortunately, could not bring my car back to them to look at because two weeks later the guy, um... off'd himself. Tragic. I guess my car was the least of his problems.
Anyway, yeah the CE light, brakes and tires (tires have fair tread, but the inside corners of the fronts are starting to show belts) are the only things on the to-do list.
I can try to take some underbody pics for you. She has no visable exterior rust.
As far as going cross-country, absolutely. I took her and the family on a trip to Georgia this past spring with no issues.
Thanks for the talk-up, Aaron. :bows::bows::bows:
I raised my price on my window sign and interest tripled. Imagine that.

May also talk to your financier about the fact that this is a known car with a known history, not a lot lizard that has gone through at least one auction. Many people here have vouched for the car and its owner, so there's no reason this car shouldn't be a winner.
(Though I would omit the part about the CEL being on)

I agree, I've seen too many people vouching for both which is why I'm so anxious to work something out.
The CEL? I don't think I'm worried about that. If it runs fine and it's just a light there are ways around that.

I wouldn't worry about the light....I was concerned when I was working on it, it had sat in my driveway for a few hours, then I started it and saw the light and thought maybe something was wrong. Mike let me know everything was A-ok. Car was awesome....the 4.10's really give it an OOMPH compared to stock.

Tryin to work somethin out. Due to my financier being a family member, they're insisting my buddy from ALM bring the car there for a safety check that'd allow them to get more details on the codes throwing the light. I'm only concerned about the CEL as far as getting it registered. Hopefully I didn't send him the PM with my proposal too late, this current schedule is killing me for things like this.
For my sake, I hope your truck doesn't sell haha. j/k. If it happens it happens, if not patience would prove fruitful in the future but it's certainly a nice thought to be able to be back in an 03 300A inside of a month of losing the other.

I'm doing everything I can to bring her to a good home. It sucks living paycheck to paycheck and having possibly enough to buy it outright but having it stuck in the limbo of rental/doc bills/personal injury suit/ins payout and not being able to access a cent of it till it's all sorted out.
And while someone close to me is offering to loan the $$ without interest, they have stipulations that are creating a few more hoops to jump through causing delays. I'm doing my best to make my schedule available, but the accident stuff has been taking up more time than I'm comfortable with already during business hours and am starting to worry it'll be seen as abusing my "flexible" schedule or worse.
If it were up to me outright, I'd just buy it, flat bed it home to be safe/easy and figure out the rest when there's not such a rush. If I really had to, I can walk to work(prolly be good for my fat ass anyway). I just don't because I have a work issued laptop and it's been raining often enough this summer to not even bother attempting...plus that'd require me to have to leave home even earlier than 8:55am and i'm still not a morning person.
This is the part that really sucks where having the ins total a vehicle and trying to get a new one as soon as possible while they try to find their @$$holes instead of taking care of a paying customer. /diatribe

ok back to selling the car. Mike do you need it detailed? My old coworker runs his own detailing. I could get you an estimate for it.... also, hope those floormats help.
Ooooo naughty!
As far as the detailing goes, I gave her a good cleaning, but not as good as a professional obviously. Aaron actually said a while ago that he would give me a hand with it. I also wanted to ask him when would be a good time to whet out my roof.
Hey Aaron, when can we schedule my roof? lol

Ok, so I'm back after being in a daze of glum/work/accident followups. Was just too down to even log on here after things on my end kept falling through. After talking to my financier as well as a co-worker who works at her dad's shop in Worcester, I'm hoping that if the car is still for sale and talk to Mike in person a bit about more details that I might be able to swing having them buy the car, have it brought to my co-worker's shop and have them get it road-legal.
Had to explain to my financier that for what's it's going for and what I believe is needed to get a sticker on it would still be far less than the nearest road-ready one for sale online. They kept telling me they'd find me something for the meantime and then find another marauder. That'd be a waste. Aside from hating and resenting every moment of driving something else, temporary turns permanent real fast when spending more than a few grand on a car and then few grand spend on that temp car would be lost on any trade in to get said future marauder becomes available, which would likely not be going for anything less than $12,500 at the least anyway.
I mean from what I can tell, the worst case here would be new cats, which I still highly doubt, but aside from retail/dealers can't those be found here for purchase or trade relatively inexpensively? As in even if cats were needed, couldn't they be found and still make this a worthwhile purchase?
Just throwin it out there in hopes this is still a possibility.

I am sick of seeing this thread! It sickens me to see a marauder going for so cheap and noone scooping it!!! Next time I see this thread, it better be saying that the car was sold!!! I might have to sell drugs for a month or so and go down the mister's house and buy it myself! DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO SELL DRUGS!!!!!

Yes, it's still sitting in my driveway and no one has put down a deposit. PM me and we'll figure out when you can come over. I won't be around this weekend as I'm going to the "Live Free or Die" rally in NH.
And please, don't make TJ sell drugs.

If I had asked $12,500 for her, she would have been gone in a week.
If this car is still for sale this time next year, I'll give you 8 for it when i get back from deployment, I could use a 2nd MM, mileage to me is like a contest, lol

Thank you very much MR lol. Can't believe this finally worked out, I'm still in shock basically. Wish I could've gotten on it a bit on the way here but no worries, there's tons of local maze-like roads like you took me on here too and I'm sure I can't resist... besides, as long as it's close by, I'm just putting it through a run cycle or two to clear the codes as far as any LEO is concerned. :coolman:
Anywhoo, she ran beautifully as expected and even just that short enough of a drive, I'm starting to think the one I had was in worse shape than I thought but I'll go into details later before jumping to any conclusions, but one I certainly noticed is that the gears truly didn't seem to affect mpg at all. Just barely under half a tank left when I got home, where with "The End", that would've taken a noticeable 1/8 of a tank. You said it well, gotta love how things work themselves out, thanks again, I won't disappoint.
Aaron (I hope I got that right, I'm bad with names at first)-a few friends and for the moment the parents live in Leominster so I'm out there pretty often. Once she's ready to go and I know my schedule I'll certainly let you know, thank you sir.
Mike - almost forgot, saw you on Salsbury St heading towards Tatnuck/airport area, had just dropped off the ugly rental. Tried honking but she couldn't find the horn. I'm serious lol.
-anyone ever start a Sighting thread of MM owners but NOT in MMs? Just a thought.
SOLD!
Congratulations Nate! I'm sure you'll give her a fine, loving home.

I can't agree with you more. When we had our apocalyptic ice storm out here, I started hearing trees cracking, something told me to move mine out front. 20 minutes later a ginormous ancient oak fell in the exact spot where I was.
Also for anyone who experienced that, was I the only one who was reminded of the UCB skit "Trees are Down"?
SO the moral is: GO ANYWHERE YOU CAN to get the best MM you can get and when you get home, check the weather channel.
