1996-2004 alloy blocks

I have been told that 1996-2004 aluminum blocks are interchangable. if so I have a 1996 Continental 4.6 DOHC with the early dual port heads. my initial plan was to get a pair of our heads, and build the short block up, to use as a replacement engine, and try to save enough pennies to afford that trilogy it deserves.

is this a viable plan?

+1 the continental block is way different compared to any mark 8/marauder/mach 1/cobra/ aviator block... Dont use it!
