I got a chip in my windshield the other week for a rock falling off of a truck. I can see it's already starting to deepen and spread. I'm kind of wondering what my options are, I do have glass coverage. However I have never liked the way after market windshields have looked.

Request a OEM brand windshield

When I had mine replaced last summer my insurance paid for a Carlite windshield (oem manufacturer) just be sure to verify it with your insurance company.

Tell insurance company you only want OEM glass.

By all means get the factory glass (Carlite)

Have you considered getting it repaired? Maybe that's not a common job in the USA? I've had lots of windshield repairs done over time, and though they don't look perfect, they look much better and you'll keep your factory glass. Typically, a repair job around here goes for $30.00

By all means get the IDENTICAL OEM replacement windshield if the chip spreads. You may be able to get the chip fixed for about $50 to $75 with insurance covering ALL of the tab for a repair.

I had one chip fixed on the Red one and then it later cracked all the way across the windshield a year later and I got an EXACT replacement.
