View Full Version : Rough few days for the M-ride.
First, I had heard something tick tick ticking as I was going down the highway. Found this:

Plugged it. If you get the urge to do your own, lemme know, it's easy.
16207
Bird strike! This doesn't show what hit the windshield and the top, gross.
16208
Fix A/C, check.
Fix burned out gage lights, check.
16209
If you goose the pedal when the light turns green and the rpm's stay at 4 grand, check here. It's hard to steer when both your feet are pushing down on the brake pedal so hard that your a$$ is completely off the seat. Folks at the Shell station I screeched into must have been impressed at my mad drifting skillz.

Not sure, but I do have a very clean low mileage throttlebody sitting in my toolbox if you need a replacement.

Is that the canuter valve bracket?
Is that the canuter valve bracket?
Close! But fail.:( It's the gasket that goes between your MAF housing and your airbox. It's squooshy enough that I was able to squeeze the throttle back shut and limp the car home about a mile. When I removed the air set up, walla, plain as day. I threw on a clean, spare TB I had, put everything back together.

Since that white stuff ain't blood ... you must have knocked the **** out of that bird. Good thing he bounced up and over. If that 2nd hit was a little lower or you'd be missing some grill teeth.

It's the damn seagulls around here. They hover around the Hampton Bridge Tunnel, perch up on the lights, crap on cars that pass by. When the tide goes out, they dive down for wayward crabs and any clams they can pick off the bridge legs. Then, and no one believes me till they actually see this, they go waaaaaay up in the air and drop their catch onto the road and crack the shells open, then dodge traffic trying to get it. It's how my first windshield went away, piss poor timing on the seagulls part equals clamshell to my window!:mad2:

But, its aim was great.
But, its aim was great.
It was flippin loud, like gunshot loud, when it hit the windshield. Left white dust streaks all around the impact crater. Next morning, it had spiderwebbed. :(

damn cbt that sucks! it seems your headlight lense has dulled out! its real easy to get them clear like brand new again! try Nevr Dull, clears instantly, any metal polishes, and they even have specific headlight lense renewers at advanced auto! damn hope that eagle scat didnt leave a mark!

Never Dull will do it? Interesting. I knew it would polish brass and other metal, but not plastic. When I was a young and cocky sailor and would do something stupid, my Chief would have me shine stuff with never dull. Anchors, firehose nozzles, bells, Zippo's, ammo belts, etc. etc. To this day when I see a can of that stuff I cringe, lol. Ever had to shine a ships bell? Some are as big as the Liberty Bell. Many, many children of sailors and marines have been baptised in the ships bell, all the person has to do is request it. Pretty wild, huh? That is everyones useless naval trivia for the day.:)

Had this happen about a month ago. I heard a ticking that sped up when the car sped up. I stopped and parked a half dozen times to find the problem. Every time, I was parking such that the little bastard was under the tire. Imagine my frustration on the 5th or 6th time :mad2: Luckily, mine didn't puncture through, but I should get that pair of tires replaced before I wear and tear them too much..

Had this happen almost 15 years ago in a 86 Olds wagon that my brothers had done some work on. Throttle got stuck all the way open and I was parked in a gas station. After I filled up, I started it, and it jumped to a few thousand RPMs. I tried putting it in Drive (which in hindsight was a neutral drop :P), and squawked the tires for everyone in the area. I was gonna try drifting it home, but I was really close to too many gas pumps and decided to just call one of my brothers. Sure makes your heart start beating to have a V8 screaming at you and your foot's not on the pedal!

i work in a tire shop and within a year, i'll guarantee you that plug will fail. Take it somewhere and have it patched/plug-patched from the inside. I have to fix those damn 'pull thru' plugs all the time

My back tires don't last a year.

Looks like condensation in that pass headlight.. not dull plastic...

It's both, I should have fixed it years ago. Getting to the point where I'm outrunning my headlights at night they are so fogged/cloudy.

Suggestion: Get the headlights cleaned up and then keep them waxed (and do the taillights also), just like you do the car body & wheels. Works for me.

Okay but check it out, does the wax not leave "white film" in every little divot and tiny surface crack, like on the rest of my car?
