Well today i had a mandatory lunch to goto for all mechanics at the dealership i work at. I was going to drive the marauder there. I walked outside and another mechanic offered to give me a ride. When i left it was sunny out. Ate lunch and got $125 for my years of service and fixed first time award. Shortly after that i noticed almost every manager leave the room on their cell phones, i knew something was up. Next thing i know they told us are parking lot was flooded. I ran outside and it was sunny but roads were wet. Made the 5 min drive back to work to see the marauder about 25 feet from where i parked it. Opened the doors and water everywhere. Water line is almost over the engine so i didn't start it. Water in the Trans also. My car and 16 others were caught in a flash flood cause by a strong storm. Looks like it will probably be totaled. Just got my detroit tru trac in last month :(. I might buy it back but ill keep everyone updated.

Wow. I feel terrible for you. I dont even know what you would do in that situation. I guess thats a total loss which you may be able to buy back and part out.

Sorry to hear about this. :(

My condolences. My montra has been "All cars can be fixed, some just take longer and cost more than others". I agree that flood cars make that difficult. Good luck.

they said the storm moved through at 60-70 mph, said over an inch in ten minutes...

Not going to lie, i really dont want the car back after this. I have bought flood cars and repaired them before and when my car was getting towed away i decided i didnt want to go through all the problems that come with a flood car. I want to buy another marauder, but im keepin my eyes open for anything else(found out i can get a new camaro ss for 25k)

Buy it back from insurance and part it out. There have been a couple of wrecks today, so there's a market for some body parts!

What a lousy way to lose a Marauder, I would be PO'd. I guess the bright side is you weren't in it, and it isn't smooshed up, should be able to part it out.

I remember the time my Z-28 got flooded in a similar deluge. Water didnt quite reach the bottom of the dash so they didnt total it, they (attempted) to fix it. Everything flushed and fluids replaced and for a while I thought it would be ok. After a few weeks I noticed the smell of rot. Under the carpets the folor was rusting. The headliner fell out. The electrics on the windows quit. Then the transmission basically grenaded about 3 months later. Bottom line: flooded vehicles are junk; let them total it and see if you can buy it back cheap for parts and find another one, there are still a few out there.

That must have been one helluva downpour.

We had a huge system come through here yesterday too. Perhaps the same one. Our forecasters never saw it coming.

way back in the day when I went through Ford Asset, they brought in some flood cars to help us learn who to track down voodoo electrical problems.

it sucked.

Good luck which ever way you go.

What a deal! You should be able to get another one, and some of the parts will be ok to swap over. Other parts will be sellable.

If you change the oil and ATF, then fire it up and get it good & warmed up so all the condensation is out of them, they should make good parts for rebuilding. Body parts should be ok too, maybe even the headlights & marker lights. Bumper covers will sell for enough to get your full purchase price back!

Wow what a deal, still sucks, but atleast they are gonna take care of you.

yea they kind of screwed me on what they are giving me, i called and asked why. They said there was a small dent on the rear door which i knew about. Then they said my rearbumper was torn up and scratch on the right rear quarter panel...i was like "ya, i told you it floated into another car, where you think that came from?". So i should get closer to the NADA price. I also kind of screwed the insurance company, i made sure the car wouldnt run when they went to start it. I unplugged the fuel cutoff switch. Then also took a few fuses out so it seemed like the electrical was messed up.

Now to repair or part out. And fordnut, i already did that at work today lol, did a engine oil flush so hoping that helps out more. Planning on building the motor up a little, maybe do the same to the trans.

And to see what it looks like when this area floods, here is footage of last year when we had some time to move are vehicles. This time the marauder was parked right behind where the green truck is in video, the car ended up close to where the trailer is.

Oh my God! What the hell is going on, I think you're the third Marauder today that was damaged. Jeeezzz, I'm going outside to hug my MERIDEATH!

Just got back into town. I had a nighmare that my car had gone over an embankment or cliff up in the Sierra Mountians and my wife was unconscious or dead in the car seat. Infront of her was the passender door panel of my Marauder.
So, I took my wife's car on our vacation trip to Reno. Everything went well and my wife won a couple thousand jackpot. I think the week with June 18th was a freaky! It is terrible that 3 members lost their Marauders this last week.
My two bits - Do not take the Marauder back with a salvage title if you are going to repair it. Have it repaired professionally and document the repair with photos. I had put a bunch of time and money repairing a car I took back with a salvage title. When the car was hit again, the insurance saw the salvage on the title and did want to pay anything over $1,000 to total it.

Jimmy, in NYS you would have gotten nothing because salvage titled vehicles are only eligible for liability insurance.
