Make me number three today.

A Semi ran into the back of me on the way home from work on the highway.

Never thought I would see the day. Looks saveable, but who knows.

Seat back broke, trunk mashed, bumper gone, doors on the driver side missaligned, rear quarter on driver side wrinkled. And the wheel in the middle of the road I stopped for wound up messing up the font bumper afer the truck smashed the shist out of me.

Dammit ! Loved this car. I can't bare to take pics and post it.

Man I am sorry to hear this! Were you injured?

So far so good. Won't know for a few days about neck, back, brain...

Good news is it was just me and the semi, no other vehicles, as we both maintained control afterwards...

Oh my god! That had to one scary ride!!!! Did you even see it coming? What speed were you at?

I was nearly stopped, probably less than 15 MPH and hard on the brakes, would have stopped short of the tire in my estimation. Truck was over 40... easy. I wound up atop the tire, 20 feet beyond where it was originally located.

I saw the truck, just as it hit me, then a flash as my brain bounced around in my cranium. Then saw it again 15 feet behind me afterwards.

Car took it all amazingly well, but I fear it will never be the same again. Maybe I'll turn it into a 10 second dragster...

Sorry to hear. But glad you are OK.

Maybe its not such a bad thing that both my vehicles are in two different shops since last night and the night before. But had to pedal about 15 miles today.

Thanks guys. Takedown, I have a lot on my side today. Commodore Crap, we'll have a beer.

Where in Tonawanda? Let's definitely get together.

I was looking forward to 6 more years of no car payments. Guess that dream is dead. But I'm not...

Just so we are clear. I drove this beast 40 miles home at after the collision. Troopers and I checked out safety items and they gave me the go ahead. Tail lights and signals still worked.

She pulls to the left a bit, but was still stable as always.

Bummer. Glad to hear it saved you. The damage description sounded like it may be a parts car now. But sinc you drove it home, maybe it's fixable.

Dragcity glad to here you still standing, and hope the damage isn't as bad as you describe, good luck. Dragcity, and Commodore Crap, we were hoping that maybe you would be attending POTP in July. Any chance of that?

This is the first post I've read today. :(

I could only imagine how I'd feel if I was in your shoes.

That said, it's a relief the car took the hit like a champ and you seem to be fine.

Good to see you're ok Joe, look on the bright side you could have been driving a small crap box and ended up in worse shape.

Agreee with all the above, main thing is you are ok. Getting rear-ended by a semi and walking away shows your guardian angels were looking out for you. Cars can be fixed or even replaced if necessary.

Sounds fixable Joe so don't dispare. Keep your head up, you and ole Sally will be OK. Just think what would have happened in a lesser car. I shutter to think of that happening to me in the Evil Orb... If you have GEICO do not go to their preferred shop. :shake:

Joe,
Just glad to hear that you are OK. Car can be fixed or replaced.
If the Truck mashed the body without damaging the frame, You may be able to get it fixed. If the frame is bent as well, then you are looking at more money than car is worth according to KBB. Now, if you have good documentation and BEFORE pics of recent vintage, you MAY be able to haggle with an insurance adjuster and get the car fixed. My local LM dealer body shop mgr says the current rule is 2/3s -- if the cost to repair is greater than 2/3s the current value (arguable) of the car, then insurance co. will NOT allow car to be fixed.
For ALL: If you MM is NOT a daily driver, it may be worth investigating the Collector Car Ins. companies and getting Agreed To Value ins coverage -- they will need pictures of every angle and signed statement that you don't drive it more than X,XXX miles per year. I can get it for my Vette, but have not done so yet. With digital camera in hand I should get on the stick!!! Many members here are at the 6 to 7 year mark with LOTS of customizing -- ain't cheap. Just my 2 cents & FWIW.

Hey Joe, glad your alright. If ya need anything ya know where to reach me.

It it's worse than thishttp://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/500/medium/wrek2.jpg
Than consider it a total loss. The frame on these cars can't be straightened and they are too expensive to replace. At least your ok. You'll get another one, I did :)

Damn, Joe! The good news is that you are all right. I hope you were consuming 7 of your finest Barley Wines.... If you can't fix her, I may be willing to sell you mine. You will have a turn-key 11 second car.:D

Oh, and if you develop some various pains and you get some scrips for them, try not to mix your Belgians with them. I did once and actually hallucinated. Not something I recommend. Stumbling around the TV room and almost knocking over the set because I wanted to touch something on the screen did not go over very well... I hope you both recover quickly and fully!
