If you haven't seen it yet, you should go pickup this months issue of Hot Rod magazine! It has the new Ford 500HP 5.4L (4V) V-8 for the upcoming GT40. It is also rumored to be slated for an Updated Lightning or Cobra. Can you imagine this monster in a Marauder???? Daaaaaaaaamn! Might have to cut a hole in the hood, but who cares :)

It uses an Eaton M112
Dual 70mm Blade Throttle Body (Direct mount on the SC!)
(2) yes (2) 32lb injectors per cylinder!
356-T6 Aluminum Block (stronger alloy than our motors)
Manley Rods
Forged Steel Crankshaft
Piston Oilers
Mahle Forged Aluminum Pistons
HP = 500 @6,000RPM
TQ = 500 @4,500RPM
Compression = 8.3:1

Too bad it doesn't fit in our MM. :( 5.4 L's deck height is too tall, from my understanding of it. Maybe it would work wit a hood scoop?

I sure someone could re-do a hood?

Ohh but can you imagine how much the engine will cost even if you could get ahold of it. Right now you can buy a 100% complete Cobra motor from KarKraft for 12,500.00!! I can't imagine what this baby would run.

After a closer look, it is not the Eaton M112 on this baby. They list it as putting out 12 lbs. of boost and having 2.3l displacement. The Eaton M112 is 1.84l. Wonder what this bad boy is? Anyone have a clue?

I read Ford was going to an Autorotor design of supercharger for 2004.

That engine will be put in the Lightning. It has to compete with the Viper V-10 powered Ram. Also Ford said it may come out with a super Mustang at a premium price to compete with the new Vette wich will have 500hp.

Hey Guys,

I was at Eaton when they were testing the new blower for the Ford GT. It was a Lyshom, I think the spelling is incorrect, but Eaton and Lyshom have a partnership. It is a screw type blower that produces big hp at high rpm's. It spins faster then the M112, but that is also where the big hp comes from. Down low its about the same as a Eaton and it costs about 3 times as much. We looked at these blowers when we were doing our research on superchargers. Mike Hewitt is the manager of supercharger operations at Eaton in Marshall, MI.

The Throttle Body is hugh and the blower is massive. Once again, its a very expensive unit. I would imagine that this type of unit would only go on expensive SVT products.

I will be back in Marshall, MI in a few weeks and I will update you on anything new I find out.

See Ya!!
