I was talking to my Mercury dealer's Service Manager today and he was telling me about the new Mercs and Fords coming out soon. Then he told me the Marauder engines will be available in Police Interceptors as an option. I don't when this will start as the conversation was interrupted 3 or 4 times. He has always been a reliable source of info so I'll take his word for it.Also Ford may be coming out with something real close to either the Ford 427 or Forty-Niner concept cars later in the 2004 model year.

The car being spoken of is the Ford 500 and the Mercury Montego, both due out as '05 models and are definately being produced.

Also the Ford Futura. It has a front end like the 427 but it is made on the Mazda 6 chassis.

I don't know about the Marauder/Mach I motor in the Interceptor though, I would have heard about good news like that being in the field. I dont know if they could produce enough motors to meet the demand if that were to happen. I did hear something about the Interceptor eventually getting the new 3 valve motor in the future.

If you do a search (because i can't find the original material just now) I posted about a Marauder engined CVPI that was at last years Police vehicle test/trials.
Another that was there was a CVPI using a Marauder airbox.
The 2004 CVPI does use the Marauder airbox. Who knows what the future holds for a DOHC 4.6 in the CVPI, but it obviously has been looked into....

Several police departments, including mine, have inquired about that very thing only to get the canned response that it is not feasible or practical to put the Mach I/Marauder motor in the PI. I talked to a guy that works at the Romeo Engine plant this summer. I forget some of the terms he used, but basically there is the high volumn line (Mustangs,PI,etc), the niche line (hand assembled Cobra motor) and a line in the middle with lower production for special projects (Mach I and the Marauder). Part of the problem is the fact they may not be able to make enough of our motors for the PI. When I took the tour at St Thomas this year, the numbers of PI's produced suprised even me! I for one would love to see an Interceptor that can get out of its own way, but we will have to see. Ask any cop anyplace, and they will tell you that it is underpowered for the job asked of it. Just my own observations.....

i Agree, a friend of mine is a sheriff here in wichita and i let himdrive my marauder the other day, he told me he would kill to have our motor in his car. He says his car is severly under powered for the job they expect it to do. We even had oirselves a little race and the marauder walked on the old PI
