I want to play a custom CD for an event, and I dont remember if it accepts burned CDs. there used to be a music place online that would burn a standard CD with your purchaced music on it, but I cant find it anymore. I havent burned a CD in years, I couldnt find one around to test out.

Burned audio CD's will play. MP3 will not.

I rarely burn CDs for myself, but I often receive burned CDs from others. I know my Jeep wouldn't play CD-RW discs, so maybe it is the type of burned CD that isn't working for you.

As a good rule of thumb, any modern CD player should be able to play any single-burn audio CD. In technical terms, this CD must be recorded as an audio disc playing at 44100KHz at 16bit depth stereo. MP3 discs generally do not play on CD players unless the player spefically says it will. Also, be careful to note that an MP3 disc is a data disc but a strictly music disc is an audio disc. Most burning software should have a wizard for burning audio CDs and mp3 discs respectively.
Best of luck to you. :)

I have noticed there are a type of CD out there that have a purply hue to them on the burned surface and my car will not play those types... They have to have a standard looking burn side to them

I burned a cd about an hour ago and the stock cd player seems confused...it plays the first 6 tracks and if I skip thru it will pause...I took the cd out, then it decided it was a bad disc. The cd doesnt have the purple hue that tj is talking about...So now I guess I have to use my phone as my mp3 player for now.

Mine works as lang as you play all the way through, once it gets up to like song 9 and then I try to skip, then it gives me problems either takes forever to read the next song or I get the bad disk error. If I FF through the song instead of skipping it, it works fine. Also my changer in the trunk doesnt like them at all. I have had a lot of stereos, wheather it be in car or at home to some degree burned cd's have caused problems. I just plan on getting a new deck and somehting I can hook my mp3 player up to. On the other hand my fiances stereo in her 03 honda (stock) never has had an issue, it is a better quality stereo though. I think everyone should get it replaced, just my opinion.
you must not burn the disc at a very fast speed such as 48x or 52x as some head units cannot read the grooves properly as they are not burned in enough. If you use 4x or 8x you will always be fine.
Kracker, try re-burning those discs at a slower rate and you may find they will then play. The only downside is you wait longer for the disc to burn, so what.

I've never had a problem. It's good advice to burn at a lower speed and it will probobly fix up your issue; that being said, I always seem to forget to do this, and still no issues. Now if I had just one stereo wish... it would be that that stereo played MP3!!

The same cd I burned earlier this week is playing fine now...:dunno:
I will try that slower speed burning though.
