Looking for tips.

I know pull the headlight. Fold the mirrors....

Any other tips and tricks?

Fold the mirrors? Unless your trapping at 200mph it won't help.

I was just stating stuff I've heard.

Drive around the water box and back into it for your burnout... Follow the direction of the track official as to when to start your burnout etc.

Hey every little bit helps plus it can't hurt. Try to drive around the water box, if you'd like to do a burnout then go around the water box and back into it just to get the rear tires wet then roll slightly forward and do the burnout, you only need to do it for 5-10 secs just to clean the tires off. Let some air out of your tires and run about 26 lbs of air.

Have you raced at the track before?

I've raced my P71 before but only twice.

Do you know how to preload the converter for a launch?

Ya,

What should I load the MM at?

Practice before you go to the track just to see what rpm you can bring it up without breaking traction but probably 1800-2000rpms.

Depending on your tire, I would go down to 18-20 lbs. Just make sure you re-inflate for the drive home.

I totally concur that every little bit helps. I'm a mirror folder now. Even if it's a fraction of a thousandths, it could mean running in 14.4's vs. 14.5's. Add some air to the fronts to reduce a bit of rolling resistance. Clean the air filter to give it just that little bit more of fresh air. Some owners have said they run faster without preloading so you may want to try that. The preloading worked better for me. Others have sugggested that turning off the rear air compressor might improve the weight transfer. Get between a quarter and half tank of good gas in her. Try different launch techniques and write them on the back of the time slip for reference.

Folding chairs...Bring some really good tunes so you can maximize the fun factor. Oh...and beer if you are so inclined-to celebrate any really good runs.

Please post up when you get back and share any wisdom or just good stories with us...

I'll be there too........minus my rear seat. (Stage 4 Weight Reduction)!!!!!!

The rear seat weighs about 2 pounds, I have had it out!!

yeah...me too. Amazing how freaking lightweight the rear seat sections are. I could save the same amount of weight by skipping the stop at subway on the way to the track...but I said earlier that every little bit helps so wth....take the bottom and back section out. But then you can't run 12's and collect on the $100 bounty

Take the wipers off. Take the wheel center caps out. Remove the interior rear view. Take your floor mats out (should do this anyway to prevent mat on the pedal) Run 4 lug nuts instead of 5. Make sure the fuel light is on as well. OH! don't forget to remove the manual, its pretty thick.

Valve stem caps!!! A vastly overlooked weight reduction technique. Also, don't forget to minimize your salt intake on race day so you're not retaining water and take a good healthy dump before you leave. I usually go "commando" too. Every little bit helps.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Last time I went, I preloaded to between 1800 and 2500. 2000 seemed to be the best. Things may be different now with the gears and tune. We'll see.
Air up the fronts to 42, drop the rears to 20 and a 1/4 tank of gas. If you can, leave your spare with folks you trust in the pits.
Whether you preload or not, mat it at the second yellow from the bottom. :burnout:

If you are that serious about weight reduction, make sure that you 'drop a deuce' before you go to the track!

Cool. Another tip for next time. Make sure you go straight. I serious about this. I see a lot of folks line up just a little crooked, then have to turn the wheel to correct the line while going down the track. Anytime you have to move the steering wheel, you're costing yourself time. And, as we all know, the shortest distance between 2 points (in this case the start and finish lines) is a straight line.
