I'm planning on rebuilding the trac-lok with the Cobra Clutch kit this Saturday, and was wondering what is the sequence that people are using when rebuilding them?
Also I have read a bunch of threads(searched) on using an additional friction and steel plate. Will the OEM frictions/plates work with the cobra kit(M-4700 C)?

This is what I Have ^^^

Thanks for the input.

I'd use the carbon fiber clutches.

Checkout a Mustang board like www.svtperformance.com for more info.

+1 ^

If you want to do the +1 clutch mod, take the best (2) discs from your old setup and add them into the rebuild sequence with the new ones.

There are a couple of ways to set it up.

I installed the M-4700 C cobra kit in my car last year.
And I don't think it's possible to get more friction plates in, it's a tight fit just to get the ones that come in the kit installed.
And the "f-150" s-spring in the kit, it's a real nightmare to install..

It is difficult to install the Cobra HD rear posi rebuild kit, but worth the effort. I had the rebuild done at Team Ford in Atlanta and Jason said it was very difficult to get the extra disc in along with the F150 spring, but the results were worth it. This is my 3rd posi rebuild and hopefully the last. The MM now lays down two very solid black lines at launch. I would go with Cobra HD kit with the extra disc and HD spring.

So you do put the extra clutch disc in with the CObra kit?

Yes, but it was very difficult. I doubt anyone, but a Ford Master Mechanic like Jason could have done it. He has done many rears. When Jason says it was difficult - it had to be VERY difficult. Be sure to soak the discs in the friction modifier for several hours. The F150 spring was also very diffiuclt to seat. Jason had to take a hammer to it to get it in. Not a job to do on your back in the driveway.

! final sugg., round up the neighbor that just bought a new fridge, or washer. and GET THE CARD BOARD BOX!!!!! Open it up and use it to lay on. Spent the 1st 35 yrs. working on cars like that. Back and knee saver!!! Now i have a nice concrete driveway...... Don't forget the box!!
