If your going to lock a thread. Put in that thread WHY you locked it.

If your going to DELETE someones post/thread, send them a PM as to why.

Just a thought...

I think for the most part, it's apparent why a thread gets locked or deleted. Contributing Members get to see a note from a moderator on a soft deleted thread.

Its not always apparent....

Maybe if you have whoever locks the thread WHY it won't happen again?

I still have no idea what transpired over the past week, and I'll bite my tongue beyond that so as to avoid getting this one locked too.

How many more people are we going to get rid of before we ruin the whole character of this website?

We seemed to have chased away alot of the Marauder innovators and are left with some of these other cheesy crap threads. Just saying......maybe it should be considered before alot more people say screw it and move on.

Its gotten worse before better, which is why I havn't became a paying member.

Seriously I don't think the forum requires such censorship and extreme moderating as what happens. With the median age on this forum of prolly 30+ I'd think we'd be able to take care of ourselves and do not require such extreme dictatorship.

If it wasn't an issue, there wouldn't be so many people that attempt to speak their minds as they do, or at least try before their tread is locked or deleted because no one wants to "deal with it" and "thats just the way it is" with no explination.

So, my site suggestion is give the members a chance to correct, edit, or let them know what they did wrong before just hitting the "delete" or "lock" key. Regardless if they are a paying member, its just professional moderation courtesy.

Two days ago I did something I never really considered before in the 6 1/2 years since I became involved in this site,I put someone on my block list. Now I didn't always agree with Zack and thought there were times he could've used a bit more tact but he was a member who helped I don't know how many people here in person, over the phone or right here in cyber space.his knowledge of MM's is perhaps unparalleled but now he's banned and all we get is some non specific reason for it.But at the same time the person I blocked is busy starting who knows how many mindless threads every day just to boost his thread count and that's just fine.Maybe the mods should check and see how much bandwidth this dudes using up and not contributing anything useful to the site or it's members.BTW,it sure was nice while HE was "elsewhere" for a while. And NO,I'm not talking about Dom,he's genuinely concerned about MM's,the people on this site and the site itself.

And def don't mention the name of the person we are talking about, it will def get deleted and FAST. CBT said it was the fastest he has ever seen a thread get locked/deleted.

I think it is B.ullshi.t that they can ban someone but keep all the valuable content from said person and then claim they are "The premier knowlegebase for the Mercury Marauder" or however they word it.

If you close that person's account, then you need to install the vBulletin mod: One-touch Spam, Ban and Clean (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=156444) You ban someone, all their content disappears too.

I can see what you are saying...If someone is banned, do they have the 'rights' to the information that they posted?
Because it was willingly posted on an internet board...I'd say probably not.

BTW: Where can I buy that?

I'd love to make 5,400+ "knowledgeable posts with valuable content" disappear.

 Cmon now, you just dont understand the genius and brilliance of those threads and posts. Just mention the poster then wait and you'll be soon reminded of this.:puke:

I would personally like the member block feature to also block the threads from the useless uncontributing poster. So I dont have to comb through the 95% of mindless blogging on a car forum to get to something I would actually want to read.

It is usually a short message like "knock it off", "cut the crap", "Don't post rants", "inappropriate". No one is really missing out, there isn't a long explanation. Nothing like "I told you if you posted one more (insert reason here) I was going to beat your arse". THAT would be funny sometimes.

Interesting thread.(for a change)
Last week dum dum was mildly repremanded for his usual crap...He grew some whiskers and wrote back. Claiming the world belongs to him and all his young buddies. The site backed off. I'm thinking...tail wagging the dog?? Then I thought, if he's right, this site belongs to the young... then he is next to go, cuz I think hes growing up. He never talked back before. Is our little guy growing up? is he destined to go away like the rest of the grownups?????????

Course she said it better. but she stuck her neck out a bit with the "you know who you are" thing and Chicago sprang to action. Of course I disagreed with every word.

I believe this is what he was referring to:

We didn't ask for this. I don't see anyone appreciating it either.

Newer members are a lot younger than the members four years ago. Times change Dan and nobody really wants to change includding you. If you don't like it, I guess you can do something about it and you already have.

Perhaps it's because of the rough times. We all need an escape and something to laugh at. At meets we discuss these things and how funny they were, not just here on the net. {deleted}

I think you will find ten out of ten members on here will say the way site is run is fine, except for days like this. This is our club, our site. You may own part of it (I am speaking to all Mods now) but it's the members that keep it alive. Wither we donate money or buy from a vendor. The only people that compain are you guys and girl. Everyone else is fine with laughing about this or that and it's over. I have never seen anyone post a thank you or phrase for closing or banning anyone with one acception and that member is back and active. Nor have I seen it today. The second actions like this are taken, everyone get's mad includding me. Yet this is seen as good being done for the Marauder Community. If it's a family site, than this is far from a family. There is no such thing as Pleasantville, but it seems like the Mods would like to make it out to be that way. I cannot think of a single family that was ever perfect, but that's life.

Please think of what the pleases members all across the world and a little beyond the circle of seven people.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

If it has homonyms wouldn't it have to show definitions to distinguish them, since they have the same spelling? And wouldn't it having definitions make it a dictionary?
