yes agent, they are all like that.kinda cheesy if you ask me as water and sand can get to the connections.they could have tucked them way up in the wheel well,,but i guess its easier there on an assembly line standpoint

I've found a number of similar connections like that. The tape they used does not appear to have a lot of staying power.
I have plenty of standard electrical tape but I don't think it would put up with the environment underhood in the MM. Is there an electrical tape specifically made for the rigors of automotive applications?

have your dealer look at it.
electrical tape isn't typically used. wireharnesses are wrapped with a non-sticky wrap.
anywhere an adhesive tape is used, it's a special tape. some of the tape on the harnesses that looks like it has failed is actually pieces that held sections of the harness together temporarily, then are "broken open" for installation

I have to take it in for the window run later this week. I'll have them look at it as you suggested.
Thanks guys.

I looked at mine yesterday and it is exactly the same as the photo above.

Mine is the same. Wiring harnesses have been exposed to moisture for years. The turn signal harness of the car below for example. I'm not sure there is anything to worry about.
