Anyone have any experience with a ($332) Powertrax Lock-Right Locker?...supposed to fit inside my differential, to replace the bad spider gears. I figure they can't be any worse or weaker than the (now) obsolete OEM gears.

I just noticed a problem, they list them for "open" carriers, so I guess it won't fit inside my clutch style carrier. Might need to find an "open" carrier, but might not be a deal breaker.

Yes, you're right. They will only fit "open" carriers.
I've installed Powertrax locker before on my '96 Grand Cherokee with dana 35 rear.
They worked great as far as having both tires spin in any adverse conditions. One tire could be on ice and the other on pavement, nail the throttle and both tires will spin equally! The only drawback they have is a lot of driveline clunking everytime you're on and off the throttle while cruising. It drove me crazy almost do the point of take them back out. Luckily, I sold the vehicle before I had to.
May be they improved the design on them now where they won't clunk.
I would highly recommend Detroit Tru-Trac or torsen style diff. No cluthes to wear out. That will be my next posi unit.

I'll be right there with you.
The 31 spline unit is on my list.

Thanks for the pertinent info. I can see how the noise might be a deal breaker!
It might be a good mod for the (open diff, manual lock hubs) Dana 44 in the front of my '79 F150.
I decided to order 31 spline axles ($109 ea.), a 2R3Z-4026-AA loaded 31 spline Trac-Loc carrier ($223), and 2-16 x 7" PI 7 hole steel wheels ($74 ea.).
If I ever get 9" style hubs & axles, I will get a Detroit Locker.
