To all northern MM owners:

Help, I need a part number for whatever REAR mud flap that I can order from Ford/LM that will have the right profile for installing on the MM. I know most of the issues from having SEARCHed the forums but did not locate a real part nbr; now I am ready to get ones for the back after installing the fronts which turned out well. Can anyone help me with the correct part nbr that will work for the REAR of our MMs?

Thanks,
GordonB

Has anyone found anything that will fit? The parts catolog says "except Marauder". Has anyone tried the standard Gr. Marquis ones??

I know Marauderboy has rear flaps on his car. I'm pretty sure he told me that they were the rear flaps for the Crown Vic.

I ordered rear mud flaps for my MM. The dealer ordered standard rear flaps for a GM but they did not fit. I returned them and re-ordered for a CV and they fit fine.

AFSP13,
I would be grateful for the Ford Part nbr after you get them and determine that they will work on the MM.
Currently, I have a pair of flaps for GM REAR, labeled F8MZ-16A550-BA Rear splash Shield 1998 Grand Marquis that very CLEARLY DO NOT fit our MM in the rear.
Apparently, others have ordered the CV rear flaps, but I have been unable to locate a part nbr.
To ALL: The front ones labeled F8AZ-16A550-BA Front Splash Shields Kit 1998 Crown Vic/Grand Marquis do indeed work quite well with just a little bit of cutting the inner fender liner.

I ordered mine from Fordparts.com. Part number F8AZ-16A550-CA. They said my order shipped last week. I let you know if they fit.

SheyboganGuy,
Thank you for posting the numbers. Pls let us all know how the CV REAR mud flaps fit. My belief is that this part nbr you posted under Parts Wanted section, Crown Vic Rear Molded Splash Guards: F8AZ-16A550-CA, is the one that we MM owners are all looking for and what some of our friends here have installed successfully.

The Crown Vic '99-'03 rear flaps I ordered DO NOT FIT!

I sure will be glad when this part number fiasco is cleared up.
I saw a set on a MM, problem is, that individidual has not gave up the info on how, where, and what he did to manage this.

Patiently waiting.....

CRUZTAKER and all others interested,
What you just discovered is why I started this new thread. I need to get to the bottom of this once and for all, BEFORE my rear facia is all nicked up from the coming winter. I have the front mud flaps done and I have the Winter tire pkg on order, but I really would like rear mud flaps. My wife keeps asking why we can't get them.
CRUZTAKER, pls review the CV pkg of rear flaps that you have that do NOT fit. Pls confirm that this is the part nbr for the NON-fitting rear: F8-AZ-16A550-CA. SheboyganGuy has ordered this part nbr and will confirm whether or not it fits shortly.

Thanks,
GordonB

From what I recall, there is another thread here somewhere about MAKING the CV or GM (don't remember which) rear flaps fit our Marauder using improvised parts/methods. I think it was a mounting issue, since our cars have a thin plastic facia as our rear bumper cover, as opposed to something more sturdy on the CVs. An "improvised" mounting solution was rigged by one of our members here. As far as I've been able to surmise, Ford DOES NOT make rear flaps specifically to fit our Marauders!

The thread that explains the improvised mounting technique is here:

Mounting the CV Splash Guards on a Marauder Thread (http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4728&highlight=flaps)

Thanks to ADELG670 and gdmjoe for their contributions on this IMPORTANT topic!

I ordered 2003 CV rear mud flaps. They fit the body line perfectly but no, you will need to use a sharp knife to remove some excess flap material. It's minor and takes 2 seconds. These fit better than the factory ones from Mercury. The only issue is that there is a very small Ford logo on the flap. Chapel1 has included a picture of them in the gallery

Thanks MarauderBoy!! I was hoping you would pop in here and clear this up. Your rear flaps looked great when I saw them at the August Dynotune...

^^^That was the difference^^^

I must have had my hands on earlier model rear flaps, cause it was the body line that did not corrospond. So, as far as I can tell, if we can deal with a small ford logo, we got our parts. Besides, I never did mention the slight bit of trimming required on the front ones as well. I am sure I can deal with trimming the rears as well.

Thanks to all....issue passed .

MarauderBoy,
Pls clarify what you have posted by posting the REAL 2003 CV Part Nbr of the REAR Mud Flaps for everyone here.

To all,
I also thought of the other alternative to the MOLDED flaps -- stop by the neighborhoodZiebart dealer and just get a pair of the FLAT, Medium sized flaps and install on the rear of the MM.

The CV rear splash shields fit perfectly. I installed mine a week ago. The key is to use some good double sided tape when installing the shields and use 4 screws per shield. But, do not over tighten use electric screwdriver to start and then slight hand pressure to tighten. Order the shields from Fordparts.com Look under CV accessories. The MM bra is also a great deal from FordParts for $87.00. Very high quality part.

I just installed fronts and rears on my CV yesterday. I got the OEM molded type fronts and rears delivered for $60. I got them from Bones Enterprises @ 1-877-859-2571 if your interested. Website: http://www.bonesenterprises.com/

All,

GordonB asked me to check my part number for the rear mudflap that worked on my car. Unfortunately, I drilled through the number on both sides. However, the number appears different from what was post earlier in this thread so I'll post what I can give you.

F8AJ-5428 70-AA (What ever is between 8 & 7 is filled with a screw).

Hope this helps.

Rear splash shield

part #F8AZ-16A550-CA FORD CROWN VICTORIA

I'm working on covering the ford oval

GordonB

AFSP13,
Is the Ford Oval just embossed on the molded mud flap?
I assume that it is of the tone on tone variety, and not highly visible.
Your response is sincerely appreciated.

Okay, so lemme just get this straight . . .

We want the "F8AZ-16A550-BA" front splash guards which the Ford accessory catalog says DO fit on Marauders, and the "F8AZ-16A550-CA" rear splash guards made for the 2003 Crown Victoria (since Ford doesn't make a splash guard that they say fits the Marauder), right? Did Cruz have a different part number on the '03 CV guards he said didn't fit? Or did his just need a "two-second" trim? (Isn't it amazing what Ford put us through just to get some stinkin' molded splash guards for our cars that fit?) By the way, I didn't see chapel1's picture of the splash guard in the gallery--if the logo's just embossed, I don't have a problem with that.

FRONT: . . F8AZ-16A550-BA
REAR . . . . F8AZ-16A550-CA FORD CROWN VICTORIA (has Ford logo on it)

The CV splash guard mounting posts (shown in the thread below) authored by ADELG670, gdmjoe, and GordonB still make sense, yes?

Rear CV Splash Guard Mounting Thread (http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4728&highlight=flaps)

Thanks for everyone's input!

NBCShooter,
Makes sense to me, but I am still waiting for several members to post results of thier quest with Ford Parts. These people are waiting on thier Mud Flaps to confirm FOR SURE that what you have just summarized is right. I too am waiting patiently.
BTW, I'd love to know what has to be trimed on the new flaps to make them fit. I was under the impression that the only issue was mounting difficulties because of the lack of anything solid to mount.

Did you get your CV Rear Molded Mud Guards yet? We would all value your feedback on this thread.

GordonB and others:

Installed the mud flaps oops sorry, Splash Shields today. Trimming on the front was limited to right side only and involved a 1.5" cut in the inner fender so the flap would sit flush with the wheel well. The rears are F8AZ-16A550-CA, 1998 CV. Since there is no steel to screw into, I used 3M molding tape 03609NA plus three screws. Only problem was when the molding tape ran over the screw holes, the screw wound it up. On the second one, I made sure to by pass the holes.

I notice that www.fordparts.com increased the price since I ordered mine, but they are still under $30.

I'm still waiting for the snow tires (TireRack says the rears are due in by 11/15) but now I'm ready for the salt.

Thanks for the flap report JCMM. Now . . . do the F8AZ-16A550-CA rear flaps have a Ford logo on it or not? Is the logo embossed only, painted only, or painted and embossed? Thanks.

JCMM,
Thank you for newsy update and for confirming that the Crown Vic REARS fit even if you have to improvise the fastening.
Will you pls elaborate on the FORD Logo on the REAR splash guards? Is the Logo of the Tone-on-Tone (black embossed) variety? All of us interested splash guard users would like to know BEFORE we order and are surprised/dismayed.
Thanks,
GordonB.

I have been quite remiss........

The part number is the same as what JCMM has posted. There is a Ford logo on them. Not embossed, but "carved" into the splash guard (doesn't stick out). I haven't checked to see if they fit other than holding them up to the wheel well. I'm waiting for the snow tires to show up, and will have the dealer do the install when the wheels are off.

The logo is very small, you probably would not even notice it unless you were looking for it.
