So, I was at the drive-in the other night, for about the 3rd time this season. Despite the throwback to the muscle-car era, this car is not really drive-in friendly. Here's why:

1. Centre console makes it tricky to reach your girl.
2. Too cramped in the back seat to sit comfortably through 2 or 3 features.
3. DRL can't be shut off while the engine is running.
4. This one takes the cake: after shutting off the engine, warm air rises from the defroster vents, causing the windshield to fog like crazy.

Nothing I can do about 1 or 2.
For #3, I plan to install a switch to disable the DRLs - either that or hook them up to the sunlight sensor so the DRLs turn off automatically at night.

For #4, I don't know what to do. I placed a magazine I had in the car over the defroster vents, which block the warm air where the mag was, but caused more fog at either end. I shoved a jacket over the vents, and that worked for a little while, until the heat eventually soaked through the jacket and started fogging again. Even with the windows wide open, the windshield got foggy. Only after the coolant cooled down completely, pretty much not until the 1st movie was over, did the crazy fog stop.

I didn't have these problems with either of my '86 or '94 MGMs.

Your problem is you were actually trying to watch the movies! Shame on you!

Having the windshield fog-up should be your best friend!

In canada they have day time running lights IE headlamps are on if the motor is on.

There is a way to turn off the DRL's.

You also may need to turn the engine off, then switch to the furthest light selector setting most left, then apply the parking brake and re start the car.

I'm not positive but I think it works.

In my case the counsel is my friend! It keeps the wife away from me so I can enjoy the movie:D

I never had a fogging problem, except for that one time when CBT. Nevermind.

I love the sound of the movie through the stereo, the leather seat, and peace and quiet!

Try going to a drive in with a Pacifica. My neck still hurts and it was two years ago! Stupid widows are more like portholes.

Well, I usually have the lighting selector at the leftmost position (automatic). And I always set the parking brake when I park. And, the DRLs always come on when I start the car. If you can be more specific with this trick, I'd like to try it.

One time, on a cooler night when I knew I would be restarting for a warm up a few times, I got out and actually unplugged the DRL module until the movies were over. That's the only 'built in' trick I know ;)

Btw, unlike the older Panthers, the MM turns on the headlights at night when you unlock the car with the remote. I think that's related to why they did away with the parking-brake-disables-DRLs features.
