Has anybody tried these tires (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+Sport&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=555YR8ADSXL&fromCompare1=yes&place=0) on the rear? A bit expensive, but they seem to be one of the few performance tires in the near-correct 255/55/18 size.

I can only find the all season version (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+S.4.&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=45VR8ADS4&fromCompare1=yes&place=0) of the ADVAN for the front in 245/50/18. That would appear to bring the F/R ratio pretty close for TC and ABS. A bit of a mismatch in tires, but probably not as bad as different brands. I'm not so sure about going wider on the front. Anybody tried this?

OK, got the rears on. Too early for test drive reports. Doesn't feel like an improvement yet, but I suspect I need to add air pressure in the rear tires and lower the air suspension to compensate for the added height.

Update: I set the rear ride height so the car is level now (I think any tire combo would benefit from a level car). Also increased the rear tire pressure from 34 psi to 36 psi. Fronts are stock BFG at 38 psi. I took a ride over some fast freeway ramps with some unsettling bumps along the way. The Yokohamas did pretty well. I do detect a bit more 'bounce' than the lower-profile 245/55/18 BFGs, but this is not a big surprise. I may try 38 psi in the rears, which is what I ran in the BFGs.

I have always been a big fan of BFG KDWS tires. I ran the 50 series on my '97 Crown Vic with 17" X 8.5" Koenig 5.0 wheels with great results. And the BFGs on the front of the Marauder work very well. I am not sure why the rear tires on our cars have such a wear problem. Perhaps the tire carcass cannot support the taller 55 profile (all the BFGs I have used have been 50 series or less).

I suspect that the best handling tire for our cars would be a 245/50/18. Given that size is is verboten by the computer, I think the stock BFG rears are probably going to handle the best, but with poor tire wear. Sigh. Is there any possibility of adjusting this computer parameter?
