This takes place in 2005 when my car was still 98% stock. All I had was a K&N Air Filter and was running constant 15.1s and I was 19 years old.
I was in Chicago in Stoney Island heading north when I see a Corvette ZO6 coming up behind me. We are doing about 30mph. I get stuck at a red light so so does he. We both have a row of cars in front of us and as soon as the intersection is clear it is a soft turn to the right and left into the next intersection.
The light turns green and as soon as I get around, I hit it and it's just like the way the chase begins in Bullet. I smoke the tires a little make the turn and I am off. The Corvette keeps right up, but stays about 2 cars behind me. I clear the first right turn and it goes into the left which has in intersection. I was in the far left lane so the intersection had a dip. I must have been doing 70mph when I went down for the dip and came back up. I went so fast the car caught air and the RPMs were bouncing off the limiter and once the intersection was cleared the road went to the left and I ended up jumping into the middle lane... got that?
The Corvette never passed me, I guess he just watched me or decided that he couldn't make a "safe" pass for all the fun stuff I was doing. We got to the next light and were side by side when it turned red. He looked at me and said "I have been meaning to get one of those Marauders." We talked for a minute and the light turned green and he was off. At first I drove normal and then I hit it. I had no chance catching him with speed, but when we went into traffic that was when I was catching up. Other turns were coming up, but this was when the street tuned into a 2 way street. 3 S turns came up and the Vette was far ahead of me so I cut the corners and went into the on coming lanes, but there was no traffic. That was just like Smoky and The Bandit.
The next light turned red and he stopped and we talked some more. He told me how he raced at The TRACK and how he didn't think I could keep up with him. I said I would see him there if he went back in a week or two. Just as we said our final good byes I noticed he had a badge on his license plate and
it was also a Sheriff plate.
I almost crapped myself at that point. I broke the law in the worse way possible with a car. Not drag racing, but road racing and I did it against someone in law enforcement. Man what a day. These days aren't over BTW, but that is probably my most memorable story to this day.
I posted this for a member on here and I am ready for the flames. Keep in mind this was years ago, so I know how to drive the car even better now. :D
