OK Im looking at a few 2003s in person this week. Is there a cheat sheet on what to look for and what to avoid. Ive browsed the model overview here on the forum. Im just looking for a possible quick reference deal...
Thanks in advance!

Try doing a search on various forum threads, there's a bunch of info you'll come up with on some of the MM idiosyncrasies.

Maybe it's time for a sticky for potential buyers being as a lot of original owners are selling their cars and there are a lot more used MM's available on the market.
1.I'd check and see if the axles had been done on 2003's according to the TSB.
2.On ANY MM I'd check and make sure the heater blows strong and HOT in the heater and defroster and vent settings and the A/C blows cold and strong in the respective settings for A/C.
3. Run Auto Check, better than Car Fax,on prospective cars and ask RoyLPita to run an OASIS for you also.

I agree, there should be a sticky on buying a MM. I know people get tired of answering the same question a few times a week with the same answer "Use the search function". it gets old

The search doesn't always work, it would be better if the postings were more specific, it would help with the search feature, just my :twocents:

Make sure the alternator has been replaced. :)
Look out for melting wiring by the engine bay.

I think it's best to get one from a Ford/LMQ Dealer. That way you can get a Ford ESP if you want to. I looked a long time for an "Old Man" trade in -- driven only about 7K per year very good shape, unmolested, un-modded, very clean, lightly worn, low miles.
Check the Paint they had issues in 03
Get an OSAIS report/CarFax.

Actually I did, and have over the last few weeks.
Some of those I did find. What I was looking for was a quick reference guide. Something with the most pertinant data that I could use as I was looking at a specific car.
Likely a printable version that I could have in a pocket or such.
Some folks dont have the greatest of memory

That's an interesting idea. Could add it to the Marauder wiki as another section.

Hey mine did!!
Other things to look for;
Blue smoke on start up
check for inner wear on the front tires
bad paint on the early 2003?
burned out lights on the power windows and power locks switches on the doors
scuffs, tears, gouges on the bumpers (these are very expensive to replace)
