Motor Trend, August 2009 published a 10-page spread (page 30-39) on the Blue Devil vs. Blue Angel match-up. Page 36 shows an acceleration curve and 1/4 mile stats ....

F/A-18 best run was 10.3 @ 173.9 MPH
Corvette ZR-1 was 11.2 @ 130.5 MPH

Shermanator has pushed his MM to 10.3 @ 131 MPH. He would beat the ZR-1 (638 HP, 6 speed) by nearly a full second and would be nose to nose with the F/A-18 Hornet at the line. Maybe the black Marauder from Virginia would have been a better match-up for Motor Trend's article.

Sherm and Chris' accomplishment is nothing short of magic. I heard that they are waiting on a call from the US Air Force "Thunderbirds". ;) Chris likes T-Birds.

The ZR-1 on a good tire would probably be faster than all of them.

...but a 10.3 sec MM is unreal!

Regardless of tires, a Factory Stock new ZR-1 will NOT break 11 sec. in the quarter. But .. it will run past Sherm's MM in a 1 mile or 2 mile straight run since it will BREAK the 200mph barrier in stock form!

Well, then the Car rag mags are INcorrect in all of their testing and claims -- just sub-12s, into mid-11s, no more, no less. Do mods and it is a whole 'nother ballgame. And I am a Corvette owner/guy. Why would I dish on one of my own?

OBTW, glad you don't dispute the North of 200mph claim. Chev. advertises this.

Im not doubting the corvette cant run 10's i NEVER said that, nor do i doubt that its capable of 200mph. I think the car is BADASS!

Hold the F-ing Fort. Watch the timing light and look a the board. The driver stages and the light turns green and he is not moving. You can clearly see it on the second run. The driver sleeps and pulls a 4842+ bulb and the board shows a 1.79 reaction time or a sixty foot time. What's up with that.
