I dont know if this thread has ever been started before, but. . . . .
What would you do to change the current Marauder to make it better?
I would drop in the Cobra engine with 390 horsepower and a 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic. As far as safety stuff, I would also add AdvanceTrac and side curtain airbags. Inside, I would give it a sportier three spoke steering wheel, and a standard 6-disc in dash CD Changer and a better sounding sound system. I'd also put in a new dash with better stereo and HVAC controls.
What would you do?

Hum! A lot of the members may not know what JATO is. They are/were bottles attached to hard points on the sides of aircraft. The acronym stands for "Jet Assisted Take Off." If any of you have seen the Navy "Blue Angles" flight demo team, the C-130 that they use (Fat Albert) is part of the demo. They show the short field take off capabilities with the JATO bottles for installed.
We used to have to use them back in the (never mind) to help us out of an enclosed harbor in Chci Jima on our HU-16's from Guam. We flew Coasties in and out and provided emergency services when needed. On the tirp out, we normally did an RON on Iwo Jima. There were still a lot of interesting artifacts from WWII still around the island then. Most are probably gone now!

Add a Trilogy Motorsports Intercooled Supercharger.

My only real change to the car would be, invest in a better paint line, for $35K, maybe even an inspector or two to check each car after completion.

It's already been done! See my post in the Storyboard/Joke of the day/page 7.
In 1996 an Impala owner attached one to his car and went out into the Arizona desert... He became known (posthumously) as Rocket Man and a leading candidate for the Darwin awards that year.

Ever since I first read about the Marauder, I was HOPING they would drop the 5.4 liter in there. So, yes, a 5.4-liter with a big cowl hood. Either that or a supercharged V-10 6.8-liter torque-MONSTER! Oh yeah, and a cool aero package option with a SERIOUS air dam and a NASCAR-style rear spoiler!

I would have offered the car with a manual transmission. hands down. There is a way of adding all the linkage without having to notch that frame brace across the front of the car, and all they would have needed to design were the pedals, and maybe modified the tranny crossmember a little. I know this because I got to see the Roush/bondurant crown vics, and I helped work out the details with a friend of mine who is finishing up the final stages of his V-10 5 spered manual 1999 police interceptor. Also I would have either put the 5.4 twin cam , or the supercharged 4.6 in.
