So, while contemplating a switch to turn off the daytime running lights on my Canadian MM, I discovered that I'm able to more or less 'disable' them.
If I switch the main light switch to the off or parking lights only position, and then position the multifunction switch halfway between the 'normal' position and the high beam position (not the flash-to-pass position), the headlights go to a very dim mode. Not quite off, but not much brighter than the parking lights.
It's not exactly perfect, but it does have some advantages over a simple switch:
1. It's already installed - hard to beat free :)
2. It returns to normal when you're done - you can't forget that you've switched them off.
It's a bit tricky to hold the multifunction switch in the halfway position, but for the short drive from the drive-in wicket to your spot in front of the screen, I think it's manageable.
