Hi Guys,
Justin at D'Agostino just deleted my order for Stainless Works Long Tube Headers because... they would take the better part of a month to get shipped. He couldn't find replacement shorties either: Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I could not fined any shorty headers for your car. I will go ahead and refund you the different on the headers and the shipping.
I'm a patient guy and don't mind waiting for something good, but next month I'll be working out of State and won't be around then to finalize the exhaust customization. This implant isn't a plug and play deal and even being here I am banking on a fair share of complications to attend to. Also, I've been told that I need to get the car out of the mechanic's driveway and the new Marauder engine off his shop floor asap.
So it looks like Kooks or maybe a cheaper - if less powerful - option of FRPP Cobra Shortie Headers might be the only way to compromise. Kooks are almost as pricey as the Stainless Works headers and don't fit nearly as easily. Maybe dropping the cost almost as much as the horsepower would compensate the disappointment.
Other than Glenn here (see his post) http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showpost.php?p=785171&postcount=132 has anyone else fitted and dyno tested the cobra setup on a Marauder? It seems that other cobra exhaust parts might also be cheaper and easier to fit behind them?
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts. The plan was to fit the headers to the new engine BEFORE installing it to keep labor down. Also this allowed for a single SCT chip payment for final tuning rather than having to repay SCT for everything a month or two down the road once the exhaust has been changed.
I guess I could tow the car into storage for a few months until I get back and load the engine onto a pallet and ship it somewhere temporarily. All this because they carry zero stock on the Headers they offer for sale and take forever to handle orders and fabricate.
It's got me thinking of scrapping the entire project and saving the engine for later use in 5 year old high mile V6 Mustang, ending the Mutant Marauder dream for good. Hopefully in a few days I'll have cooled down. And possibly a solution will appear on the horizon.
Thanks for your advice on the Shorties!
