For those in NYS, beware that the state has upgraded its software for emissions testing. My car has been tuned almost the entire 5 years I've owned it and I never had a problem with passing the emissions OBDII test. This morning the dealership called and said the NYS equipment can not read the computer. I went over and detuned the car but that reset everything, so it was a no go. 60 miles of driving in the prescribed Ford manner did not put everything back on line. So I have to drive her the rest of week and retry next Monday morning. Luckily my dealership service dept. treats me like a friend and not just a customer. :)

Hope you're early enough in the month for the computer to reset. It cost me a new pcm, cause i ran out of time. Even after i put at least a hundred on it and the dealer tech put a bunch on as well trying to get everything to reset so the test equipment could read it.

Good luck,

Wicked! I am wondering how I will fare. I thought the OBDII was just to read for any DTC's. The tunes that we upload don't change all the programming rather it just modifies some of the parameters.

Didn't you just get an 9100 tunefile? Perhaps you just need the newer SCT device.

I'm not sure when mine is up. I usually just go to Midas near where I live but I do know my local FoMoco and LMQ dealers very well too.

Let me know how you make out. p.s. How is it with 4.10's and a stock tune?

What did a new PCM run $?

Didn't you just get an 9100 tunefile? Perhaps you just need the newer SCT device and a real tune from a real dealer like blueovalchips.com??

4.10 with stock tune = :puke: speedo is off by 10 mph. I'm using the wife's GPS for a speedo. Just put your car back to stock for 1 week before the inspection and you "should" be ok. 3 of the 5 sensors had reset. You only need 4 working to pass. I don't think it mattered if it was the 9100 or my chip as the tech said they've had problems with both.

the NYS equipment can not read the computer. Same exact thing happened with The Blackbird this year. I have a small cable that I bought from Lidio a few years ago that corrects this. It was very inexpensive. I've also heard that you can disconnect pin 13 in the DLC.

*Note...the above only applies if you have a chip installed.

The reason the NY State computer could not read your PCM is that it had too many emissions parameters not "checked off" as OK. Did you discontinue your battery at some time before the test?

I had the same thing on my 2000 F150 after just a simply battery install. It took me 300 miles before all parameters reset. It was very frustrating. It is not your tune. I live in GA. The tech told me the same thing - the state computer could not read my PCM. So I started to ask questions and he told me it was because I have one emissions code that had not reset. It was the driving code which is the toughest to drop. I really do not believe it was because of your tune.

Neither the NYS or Ford computer could read my ECM. I did not do a recent reset either. I believe next year I'll just return her to stock when I get back from SC. Then DD her for week and get it inspected.

Same here twice to the emission station then to the dealer. And there computer couldn't read it either. Watched him make multiple trips trying to get it to reset. Mine had passed the previous time with a tune on it.

Kind of ironic we both have DTR's

Waymon, that makes me suspect that MO & NYS use the same vendor for their emissions software.

It would appear so. Funny thing there is two stations to the left and right of exiting my street. but on same street about equal distance either way. The one i pass right by on the way to work and have never been to has closed down seems it never was that frequented.

Good day all. Took the DTR back to the dealer this morning. Passed OBDII with no problems. So the new plan is to detune her one week before inspection and DD her.

Interesting. My car passed with the tune in June w/o any problems. I guess this must be really new.

Don't know. Mine always passed before too, even with the chip installed. This time I had a tune through a 9100 and it was no go. I know what to do next year so this won't happen again.

Glad I do not have to put up with that crap here in MI.
