The first run actually made more horsepower. That was due to changing the pully to a 360 and it only made 8psi when it should have been around 12. That gave me 456rwhp. The weird lines in the top end were due to the wrong gapping in the spark plugs. We took them out and corrected them. Tuned the car down to 428rwhp and called it a day. I don't wanna blow this car up and as is it should be pushing around 520 Horsepower to the crank, the first run it was probaby around 575... which I was told was a little high for a stock engine.

The guy tuning the car told me the intercooler takes 2psi away from my car. I didn't believe it and still don't. Anyway here are the results.

Special thanks to Zack and you guys for all of your support and help. ;)

WOW - it looks like I will have no chance at SSHS9 to beat you with those numbers. :banana2: But, being a good sport I will be a sparing partner for you to get you ready for the "Big Dogs". Look for me on November 7, I'm the olde man in the black 4 door sedan with the quite exhaust.

Great numbers - now keep the engine together - we have an appointment.

you should believe it since ive tested before and after the intercooler.. if i had thought about it, i could have hooked up another map sensor BEFORE the intercooler to see your pressure loss... but i know from experience (measuring it with 2 map sensors) that the procharger intercoolers have about a 2-3psi pressure drop.

thanks bob kurgan

Bob your place is great and you know your stuff really well. I never heard of a loss of power with an intercooler, but another day another lession.

I reccomend everyone in the Chicago area to visit Bob. He'll make it run right!

Nice numbers, Dom.

Did you change anything else besides the pulley? If not, how is the 255 Walbro and 42lbs injectors holding up? Any issues?

dom has 39lbs injectors, not 42s... the injectors were going static on the 456rwhp pull.. they are fine with the power we settled on!

its not a "power" loss, but a pressure loss.. an intercooler is just a radiator and you have to remember that its trying to blow through the radiator. Intercoolers allow you to have cooler IAT's and get more aggressive with the tune.

How much pressure loss do you think you get across the IC??

I've seen intercooler spec sheets when I was working on my ProCharger setup, they listed the pressure drop as one of the specifications. I believe the best ones lose 2 psi, a crappy one or undersized one will drop 4-5 psi.

Wow, that is insane power to the wheels. Imagine what that engine would do in a mustang!

I am not savvy on boost in these cars, how fast will that run in a Marauder, into the 11s?

Bob did a great job since I plan on driving it everyday and I would like it to last. He suggested I tone it down and I wanted it around 425rwhp. If my engine was built yes I would like 700rwhp, but I don't have a spare engine or $15,000 laying around for a newly built one.

It's not the new engine that's expensive... it's the "while you're doin' it... might as well XXXXXXXX" that kills you.

The loss of pressure doesn't necessarily mean a loss in power. The power increase from the drop in temperature could very well be more than the power loss from the 2 psi drop. I'm going to say this is why they even use intercoolers, or else someone would have figured it out by now and stopped using them.
