View Full Version : Check engine = O2 censor or Mass Flow... how do I know?

My car keep dying dispite the tune and the check engine light was on before. The tuner said it was because of a bad mass flow air censor or O2 censor. They probably got dirty when the car was running rich so I am guessing it's the O2 censor. Where is it located and can I clean it? If not should I buy a stock one or do I need a special one?
As far as the air censor goes I need a lightening one if it's bad. Does a Ford dealer stock those or do I need to go to a speed shop?
Or can I just clean all of these in a special way?
Anything you throw at me will help.
Thanks.

If it is sucking in more than it is rated to handle it might set a code.

I am waiting to hear back from Bob. The guy who tuned my car. The Check engine light is off, but it's back to it's old ways... or I can wait a day and it'll be back on. I hate waiting for anything.

Wouldn't be the first time I heard and or seen an MAF not being set properly out of a box or being improperly boxed in the first place.
But I didn't notice that he said it was a 90mm.
