some smart SOB decides that we would float on US Gulf Coast prices years ago. Wish I could my fingers around his neck!

Being a 'blue eyed Arab' I agree. I can see, from my yard, several Iron Donkeys. Yet, the gas down the street is higher than in Quebec - who IMPORT oil from the North Sea.

The main factor in price disparities between countries is government policy...In a few Latin America and Middle-East nations, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens...

I've got an idea, let's let the government take over the refineries, too....NOT!

Why is everyone moaning about LAST year's prices??:dunno:

Are you implying something has changed?

I suggest making more money to be able to burn more fuel in the MM!!

Norway is also an oil producing country but still they have the most expensive gas in EU.

For example the gas in Sweden costs $6,2 to $6,5 / us gallon. Of that around $4 is tax. It's eave worse in Norway.

I don't know if it can go that far in USA and Canada but with increasing budget deficits they will need more tax revenue

Personally I think it's just a matter of time before some one in USA figures out that they can try and fix the budget deficit by taxing gas like they do in EU.
They can use the environment as an argument, that's what they are doing here.

The feeling I have here is that there is maybe 5-7 years left before it's just to expensive and you have no choice but to drive a 60 mpg car..

Doesn't Europe have their medical and mass transportation plus other things all rolled into their pump prices though?

The only problem with those oil producing nations is similar to the problem with Libya.

Everyone has a car and cheap gas, but no where to go.
