P.S. Isn't EVERYONE's speedometer stuck at 140 mph ? I thought there was a technical service bulletin about that !

Looks like the car was broadsided by somebody, the driver may have survived but I doubt the passenger if there was one could have made it.

Heavy front end crashes with a rear wheel drive car, sometimes at a great enough speed, (80+) the rear wheels come off the ground, at the same time the drivers foot is slammed to the floor on the accelerator, thus it appears a lot faster than it actually was.

I was the driver of that car. What hit it? a 71,000lb semi @ 40mph.

The injuries I suffered were numerous:
Collapsed lung (Had to have a chest tube put in to re-inflate it)
Concussion resulting in loss of consciousness
Ruptured spleen (Had to be removed, it was bleeding out)
T12 and L1-5 Vertebrae in spine fractured
Sacrum fractured vertically - top to nearly bottom
Pelvis fractured in 3 places
Nerve damage in both thighs (No hot/cold/tickle sensation, only pressure)
Nerve damage in left butt-cheek (No feeling)
Muscle damage in left thigh
First 3 fingers on right hand tingle
Area below left thumb (palm) always tingles

This was 3/30/2009 - I am now walking. In nearly constant pain (lower back, and sacral area hurt when I sit for any length of time, lower back hurts when I stand still. Walking and laying down are pain-free, go figure). I still can't balance on just my left leg, so I have to sit to get dressed.

Wow Just Wow.. Did somebody run a red light. How did he hit you on that side?

I bet you are looking for another MM to relace that one since it probaly saved your life,,

Benwin

Actually, yes. The semi (fully loaded) ran a red light... It took him almost 1/8th of a mile to stop, and that was after crossing into the passing lane (4-lane highway), across the center median (25' of grass) and into the passing lane of oncoming traffic, back through the median, and finally stopping in the passing lane on the "right" side of the road.

The ******* didn't even slow down before he hit me, just kept on truckin'...

I was hit by a driver running the red light when I was 27. He changed lanes and passed the dodge pickup stopping for the light. (Excellent witness) It was a 40 MPH cross road and he was hitting the gas. The skid marks started about where the collision occurred. I am 53 now and can not run or jog. I have to hold on to furniture to stand on my right leg or sit down to get dressed. The insurance agent was upset that I hired an attorney to sue. I did not receive enough money and I wish it had never happened. I am glad you were in the large full-sized marauder and not driving an small econobox.

So is there anyway to figure out how many of us are left in one piece. I would imagine that we are looking more like 10,500. Has anyone tried to this before. I cant imagine getting an exact number but, it would be interesting to get some sort of idea.

Bluerauder ran an attrition model a year ago or so. Based on that, our numbers are dwindling.

More like 2 years ago, Rex. Purely an estimate though. :D

Probably a better estimate is closer to 7,588 for '09 (5213 -- 2003 MMs and 2375 -- 2004 MMs).

In 2010, it will be down around 6829 total (4692 -- '03 MMs and 2137 -- '04 MMs).

Wow, very glad you made it. Didn't get hurt remotely as bad but what the hell is it with people running red lights into good solid American cars lately? If this was recent that's twice I now know of in the last month or so alone.

That just chaps my ass. I just did not want to look at that graph, but I did. I am now a reduced to being a rubbernecker at a crash on the highway. In 5 years or so there will be less than 1/4 of the Marauders made in both 03-04.

Someday maybe, with cloning, there will be more Marauders on the road than were ever made...kinda like SS Chevelles and Camaros. :D
