I purchased a '99 Grand Marquis one month ago with only 42,000 miles. However, it doesn't want to start when it rains. It will, but I have to keep my foot on the accelerator when I come to a stop, or she dies. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help!

Clever thread title.
Have you checked all of your intake up to the manifold for any leaks? Or you're electrical system, battery positive and/or negative posts?

Check all the connectors under the hood. Make sure they have no moisture in them and they are tight.

sounds like water is getting to the ignition system somewhere. i think the 99's were COP?? run the car and get a little spray bottle with water and spray each coil one at a time and see if the idle drops.

I had a 93 and found out quickly that the after market plug wires allows water to get past them and cause an arch.
Only wires I could run was the OEM ford wires to stop the problem.

The foot required on the pedal to run at idle points to the IAC valve. Don't know about the rain issue.

Thanks everyone for your help and responses. I took my Gr. Marquis to my local mechanic for a tune up. Besides the tune up, he also cleaned some kind of filter (?). He told me sometimes after a fuel filter is changed, just a slight amount of dust gets in, causing problems. Hopefully, the problem is solved. I did hear him say 2 times, "This is a nice car." :-) Thanks again!
