I got a heli coil and attempted to install it...I need help, and maybe a new passenger head..... Please advise as I used a Paddle bit not a tread tap to allow for the heli coil to take...now the wall for the coil is too wide and the plug hits thye top of the piston.( which I think started this whole mess) is there a head for sal on here somewhere, or should I try getting a bigger plug for that cylinder?:help:

Some 'stang shops have had limited success with thread inserts but I haven't heard good things about helicoils. I'd get a head, or maybe a pair and have a valve job done on them so both sides are the same age. Sorry, it's a lot of work.

There are several styles of "heli=coil's", IMHO, the original heli-coil is not the best, mainly because the tang you break off after insertion, may fall into the cylinder. Other styles have no tang, also there are shorter inserts, and also oversizes. All this being said, there isn't a good place in any engine for heli-coil's.

Timeserts?

That's what I was searching for in my feeble brain, just couldn't find it!

Hi,
It's called a Time-Sert ---- They have a Ford 4.6 specific kit.
