I have the corect part number for it somewhere and I will look forit.
My tuner - Sal @ PSP - cautioned that when going to the lower temp T-stat you really should adjust the radiator fan to run at a lower temp and most importantly adjust the closed loop/open loop function of the tune for the lower temperature so you don't get stuck in the "cold engine/warm-up" mode waiting for the engine to reach an operating temperature that it might not reach due to the lower temp. T-stat.

Exactly, if the computer isn't setup for the lower temp you may do more harm than good. Fox body guys throw 160's in their car then wonder why they run like ass.
Also If your T-stat is 195 and your car is running 210+ you have another problem other than your T-stat.

The best combustion occurs at about 190-195 degrees.

^^^what they said^^^
Replacing the thermostat alone will do nothing useful for you.
What about all the guys running 180 degree thermostat's?
Do you still have to make adjustments?

The 180 stat helps with adding more timing in your tune.

Actually, it does not. MYTH!
The stock Tstat is 188. 8 degrees difference will not allow for increased timing.

Couldn't you also look at it from the perspective that, running the engine cooler, REQUIRES more timing to achieve efficient combustion? Rather than assuming that adding timing is always a positive thing? Like a good cylinder head, will make max power, requiring less ignition timing advance, than a poor cylinder head that takes a lot of lead time to achieve complete combustion?
So is running a 180 degree thermostat hurting anything on my S/C car???

Pretty much....in town....light to light!!
With the blower I've seen as much as 216* (106* ambient) with the air running......went to 30% glycol and water wetter and the most I've seen lately is 206*......check the IAT and FP.....
Thermostat means nothing when you are at the limits of the radiator!!:shake:

...low temp 'stats are good for older (non-computer controlled) trucks, and race cars. Quarter-mile racers like to keep their engines cold, for making more horsepower. They also change their oil more frequently, to expunge contaminants associated with racing, low temperature, "stop-and-go", severe duty, short trip, driving.
I can see how high ambient temperature desert driving might require a modified cooling system, but I would look to what the California (USA) Highway Patrol uses with their Crown-Vic patrol cars, in say, Bakersfield (a high desert community). I suspect they use a standard Police Interceptor package, and it works fine for them. They are designed to idle for hours, in high desert temps.
An oil cooler (which our MM's come with), is a very important part of the cooling package a performance auto needs, especially in a severe duty environment.
In cooler climates, such as my Michigan area, a low temp stat is foolishness in a street driven vehicle. The owners manual specifies exactly what severe duty is, and the more frequent maintenance it requires.

EMP Stewart water pump will get you lower temps and more power.

Yes, I'd install a 180 Tstat. Makes very little difference, man it's hot in Saudi land.

Your "Problem" is not coolant temps it is HOT ambient air!!!:help:
You will lose as much as 30% of your power in 113* air over 60* air since the 113* air carries much less oxygen per unit of volume......you cannot do much about this unless you move to a cooler place or compress the air with a blower!!:shake:
What is your outside air temp in the mornings??

Yes, you can use the 160* thermostat it wont hurt any thing, but it might not make the engine run any cooler.
And it's normal for the car to feel stronger in cold air even a N/A car, (in my car I get 12-13 psi of boost on cold day on a warm summer day I get just over 10psi)
And your English is pretty good! (does everybody study English in school over there?) (In my country we start to learn English at the age of 10)
