After a number of requests, I've caved in. I can't take the pressure any more!! Here's your spellchecker!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

You'll notice a "Spell Check" button on all forums "post reply" and "new thread" windows, as well as with the "quick reply" window.

I've got it on a free 30 day trial, if it works well and feedback is positive, I'll pop the yearly $150 subscription for the integration.

Heaven help the first guy who posts a un-spellchecked message past this point... :D

so, basically this website is like your marauder. you got a base unit and have added all kinds of mods, like the spitting post, the store, and now the spell checker.

cool!

what's next?

how about being able to add a webcam to the chat.

how about a 'karma meter' - each member gets so many points every month to dole out to whoever they want. keep track of those with the most karma

how about a random image of the day

how about letting us customize the backgound of the site

how about a member of the week

as a wise sage once said........ "let the mods begin"

Well Logan thank you again for taking care of your responsibilities for this web forum. We truly appreciate your charisma, overambitiousness and outrageousness personality.

With all appropriate salutations required may I say undoubtedly, inauspiciously, indubitability.... thank you.

See it does work.... :D

Nice spell checker!

That would probably end up being me...

PS: Notice our fearless leader put an a instead of an an in front of un-spellchecked (which isn't even a word according to this thing). :nono: :D

Nice spell checker, but $150/year?

Individuals who want one could just go here http://www.iespell.com It's even free for individual use.
It works with IE.

Logan
10-18-2003, 05:13 PM
RC... It may very well not stay. I'll be monitoring it's usage over the next 30 days, if it's not used, it won't be online.

I have it, ... it works with AOL too. But, IMO this site's spell checker is better. and has grammar check and a thesaurus (see? I never would have spelled that correctly!)

Tom

hehe, ... I also spelled "grammar" wrong!

If everyone on this net is so

The subsciption (trial) has expired....personally I feel Logan's money is better spent.

Logan

I'm thinking that way too personally.

For those who truly want a spellchecker, you can install a client side checker that works extremely well, see http://www.iespell.com

I think it is a shame that the energy is spent on the need for $150 for a spell check option. I am on two other lists and the subject occasionally comes up and is promptly squashed by the list in general. Did you query the overall list members and get an overview if it was the great majority or just a small-disgruntled segment that needed the spell check. I know if I am really concerned about my diction and punctuation that I will write my post in word check it and then copy and post it. On my one list I have a Tug Boat Capt. that goes out of his way to use phonetics for his spelling just to irratate those that it bothers. Now on his behalf he is a great contributor to solid information on that list.
This is just my humble opinion and everfyone knows how opinions are.
