View Full Version : A new generation?

I have seen it happen in many car makes and years. A new generation of owners that may have wanted a certain car, but has been able to own one until a decent "used" one was available. I also own a 1950 cadillac, and i know for sure im one of the younger owners. Thats a good and bad thing for me most of the time. Most of the "older owners" dont like some of the ideas i have for my car, and they dont understand the same humor as me. But on the other side, they are ALWAYS willing to help. And i always respect them and their views. Modified or resto.
I see the same happening here. Even though i havent been a member long, i can see that their have been some issues in the past, and you have lost alot of good knowlege (young and old) I know for me (24 years old) The Marauder wasnt within my reach in 03, but i have been drooling over her for many, many years. Now i have finally been able to afford one and am super stoked. So i think we all (old and young) need to realize that many may have different views and ideas for their rides, im just here to learn.
On that note i was also wondering about the age difference in this membership in relation to them owning their Marauder since new. (vote in the poll)
Cheers

I wouldn't have been a happy camper if I had bought this car new. I found a salvage car from the original owner and that's why I bought it. Very very cheap. You old farts are always telling us kids what to do. I'm 56, finally starting to grow up and I'm not going to take this crap anymore.:D

I bought mine less than a year old in 04 for $22,500. Around here the cheapest price a new one was $37,000. I am not willing to take the hit on any new car. I even nicknamed it the budget Rauder LOL. Used car, used Blower, used Drag Radials, heck even used window vents. To this day I have only spent around $29,000 on my car for car, warranty, and speed parts. 13,000 miles when I bought her, 60,000 now, and I couldn't be happier!

Matt,
I don't mean to give you a hard time. I understand at your age, 40 sounds ancient. Trust me, you'll be there before you know it.
This site has changed lately, with the younger members now seeming to be in the majority. It's a strange feeling being older, and seeing so many new screen names. Hell, I was older than 40 when I first bought this car.
I will most likely keep my Marauder for a while. I like it, and see no reason to get rid of it. It still makes me feel like a kid. I don't drive anything like an "old" person, and I hope that I never do. They irritate me. :)
Enjoy your Marauder, and do what you want to it. It's just a car, but it's been a very good car for me. In fact, I hope one day to pass you on the road, as I do most everyone.
So, I will now go participate in your poll.

I am young but I am the second owner and paid $21k cash for this car in Jan 07 when it had 23k miles on it, and I was 23 years old. I cancelled the ESP after using it twice and haven't done too much in the way of upgrades that cost too much. I did gears myself and have had a bunch of tunes.

I'm new MM owner but considered old fart at 57 but try not to think that way.I looked at them new but did not consider them worth asking price so got sidelined into other cars,Jags, till they became more affordable. Purchased a one owner w/ 19000miles for $15000 and love the car. I had a Crown Vic LX Sport for a year before that.:burnout:

I can say I've been exceedingly lucky to have gotten my Marauder at 19. $12,800 for an '03 300A with 57K on the clock, I believe I'm the 3rd owner if I understand correctly from the Carfax. Unfortunately for the car it wasn't too well taken care of from the previous owners, with at least one low-speed rear-end collision and a few tears in the back seat with dings pocked sparsely up and down the passenger side doors, and an AWFUL attempt at a paint job which I imagine was after some of those dings, the clear coat isn't very smooth on that side. I've been putting the love into the car it should've had from the get-go, repairing the seat, touching up the paint chips and dings, getting real exhaust tips put back on instead of cheapy looking downturn tips, then improving over the baseline with the trunk lip and godshead badges.
The car has more spirit than any other I've seen or been in, truly a monster, and I'm pretty sure after having a car like this so early in my life, I'll be ruined for good vehicles for the rest of my life. If I could get 30mpg and an option for a standard transmission, I truly think there would be no need for any other vehicle, cause I sure couldn't find anything I could possibly want that it didn't have to offer. ;)

I'll be 81 in November---will be 16 for a few more years (good Lord willin' ). I was 74 when I bought my NEW 2003 300B for $ 27,000. Took "Fastest Stock Marauder" at first Marauder meet at Ennis, TX in Sept '03. In April '09, I completed "Team Texas High Performance Drivers School" using 800 hp Nascar Sprint cars. Started on the pole with 10 cars in group---finished second---passed by the car that started in #3 slot--he passed me on the next to last lap. I had 2 instruction sessions with the Senior Pursuit Instructor for the Fort Worth Police Dept. in closed course pursuit--was never caught by a CVPI.. My Marauder now has 102,000 miles of pure fun---looking forward to many more. At my age I can truthfully say,I will never drive anything but a Marauder. I hope you young'uns have as much fun as I have had:D:burnout::banana2: Drive safely, but with GUSTO !!!!!!!! Pop Pop Marauder

I was less than 2 months from my 30th birthday when I purchased the Marauder new in November of 2004. She had 7 miles on her when I brought her home, and I got her for the bargain price of $23,990. I am now 34 and she has 94,3xx and holding....I retired her from daily driving about 3 weeks ago. I still take her out at least once a week, I cant stop driving the Marauder completely....I dont know how some of yall do it.

I got mine about 3 weeks after my 53rd birthday. Original owner with 54 miles on the clock at purchase. The Bluerauder now has 63,500 and sees daily service year round and still shows well in car shows. I am now coming up on 59 years old and still enjoy my MM as much as I did 6 years ago. Maybe even more through association with this site. :D

Bought the car back in 05 with 22K miles. Im almost at 65K and still love the car as much as the day I drove it home. How I wish I was the original owner but that may have led me to be even more psycho over the car then I already am. ;)

Best car ever .
Like a couple of yall younger guys, I too couldn't afford a new MM at the time. In fact I was too young to walk in the showroom, Summer 2002 I was 16 but was able to take every piece of literature I could carry with 2 arms. I got my Sexy 04 SB from Carmax for 21,000 on May 06 2008 at age 22.

It's pretty COOL to see a Limited Production car like ours appeal to basically "2 age groups..." 'Those over 40 and those Under 40!" :D:beer: WORKS FOR ME! (I wanted one from the word "Go"...I owned a Navigator at the time and saw a Sales Bulletin/Booklet on the Marauders "coming back" so I immediately began yearning hard for one to call my very own...then I got deployed again and the dream had to be put on hold, so I joined this club and searched heavily till I found the nice one I am fortunate enough to have now!! I'm still making payments on it in fact, but I wouldn't change that for anything! I hope to have mine or ONE or more like it for a long time!) So long live this club and the great folks in it!

Bought my 2004 with 743 miles on it back in July 04. The original owner turned it in before he made the first payment. He kept the jacket and the second key. It was sitting on the show room floor of the Ford dealer event though it was now a used car. The state made the dealer get the car back from me and do another vehicle inspection for a used vehicle.
Love the car and so does my bride. She drives it most of the time lately. Together, we've racked up 99,850 miles since returning from Woodward. We'll be joining the 100K mile club shortly. I'll be keeping it for as long as I can keep it running strong. Just joined the 50 and over club in April.
Do what you like with your car, it's yours right? But, if you paint it putrid green, please don't post up or I'll :puke:. Just my two cents... Other than that awful color we saw sometime back on Craig's List, anything goes with mods. Remember, the more stickers you have, the faster the car goes.

I'm 34...bought mine for $10,500 last month with 33,000 miles on it. I wanted one when they first came out, but the price was way out of range for me. I got a '96 Impala SS instead back then. It was almost new too. Why buy new? My car still smells new for 1/3 of the price...
