Okay long story short . Wife and my mom
drove the marauder home a few days ahead of me
so she can get settled in with the kids.
Anyway she gets gas off I66 headed towards DC
into maryland and the car starts rising in
rpms but slowing down in speed.
They get out to give the car a look over and don't notice
anything out of the ordinary. So she gets back in and car starts
fine goes to put it in drive and the car shuts off.
Gas cap light come on. Goes and checks and reapplies gas cap back
on and again car starts up fine.
But volts are going back and forth between12 and 13.
Go to put it in drive and once again turns off.
Turns the car off and back on again is able to rev the motor in park puts
it in drive and shuts off again what could the problem be?
I'm still in texas till tommorow. And then still have to make the trip
Back toMD. Someone please help or at least throw out a suggestion

Are your folks ok?

When the battery goes I have seen very weird things happen. Check out the battery and alternator. And then there is always the frayed wires behind the drivers head thing.

Is there an auto parts store nearby that could check out the battery and alt?

I agree...EVERYthing runs off the computer nowadays so if its not getting the power it needs all kinds of stuff can happen before it goes completely dead.

There is also the old bad gas idea as well. So if the car idles fine for a decent amount of time and only stalls when you load the engine, this might be your problem.

i got the battery and alternator check they are good tried the start in neutral thing that didnt seem to work too well. so im guessing it could be bad gas. if this is the case does anyone have a GIANT bucket i could use to siphon all of the gas out theres a full tank of bad gas. then what are the steps i need to take to clean everything out to get it back working properly? fuel additives fuel system cleaner? any suggestions?

Siphon it out, you'll have to figure out where, but the floor of the station you got the gas from is a start. Fill it up with fresh stuff, and it'll burn out the crap left in the lines in no time. If it was ran really low before they filled it up then crud from the bottom of the tank could have partially clogged the filter/lines. Just enough that it'll idle but die as soon as you place a load on the motor. I've seen this happen twice before.

I would ask if it was ran dry before they filled up. If no, then start with draining the tank. If yes, then start with the filter.

Good luck.

Try changing your fuel filter.

have her try to run the car with the maf sensor unplugged. Maybe something got on the hot wire. Thats what i would try.

+1. Had something similar happen on the Marquis. I would start there. It's easy enough to check.

IAC? Maybe the RPMs drop enough in drive to kill the motor...have her try keeping her foot on the gas a little when she engages drive...

Fuel filter is on the inboard side of the passenger side frame rail, just infront of the Rear passenger side wheel. Right there for you to see. Piece of cake to change out also. One of the best locations for a fuel filter ever.
