OK, I take off from a stop and get up to 60 mph and notice that the motor is screaming at 3K on the tach...it didn't go into overdrive. I floor it so that it drops down to passing gear (2nd) and come up off the gas and it will then shift into OD and cruse at 60mph at a little over 1.5K on the tach.

Has anybody seen this problem?

No, but continue driving like that and you will see BIG problems. Don't drop to passing gear in OD at that speed. Reeks havoc on your tranny. You'll probably get better answers in the transmission forum.
