1999 ford mini van ALT LIGHT

A friend at work has replaced battery and alt, ALT LIGHT still comes on occasionally, no codes. Could the gizzmo that rceives the alternator output voltage be getting marginal?? Is that gizmo the computer???

Without more info, it would be a guess at best to determine the problem. But... since the battery has been replaced. Has anyone put a DVOM on it to verify voltage at both the battery and the alternator.

Is the voltage the same (or close) at the battery and altenator?

What are the voltages?

What are the voltages under load?

Purley guessing, I would suspect a bad alternator and/or regulator, or bad connections/wiring/grounds etc.

I have seen many a battery replaced because someone didn't test the alternator first, only to find out that the alternator is the real culprit.

I work for a Ford dealer and even we had to "service parts" the alternator a few times.
